KLBJ-AM 590 KHz Austin (Texas) New Program Schedule Starting 09/14/2015

This is the new program schedule for KLBJ-AM (590 KHz) Austin.
It begins 09/14/2015.

6 – 9 AM Todd And Don (with news from Mark Caesar 6:30 – 9 AM)
9 – 11 AM Mark Caesar And Charlie Hodge
11 AM – 2 PM Rush Limbaugh
2 – 3 PM Dale Dudley
3 – 7 PM Jeff Ward And Ed Clements
? - ? (Maybe 7 – 9 PM?) The Dana Show (Dana Loesch)
9 PM – 12 AM Ground Zero With Clyde Lewis

Interesting, I always liked Jeff Ward and Ed together. Looks a shift from right to more moderate politically speaking.

I liked Jeff Ward when he first started in radio. I think Jeff Ward and Bill Schoening (now the radio voice of the San Antonio Spurs) were originally paired together on KVET-AM. I think that might have been the first sports radio program in Austin. They were both informative, energetic, and entertaining back then. I think Craig Way came here from Dallas to take Bill Shoening's place for that program. Jeff later moved to KLBJ-AM with his own show.

Jeff has said that he gets more listeners by talking about school uniforms to soccer moms so that is the focus of his current (the past five or ten years) show.

His presentation is awful. There are long gaps (in the seconds) between words. If you have an analog radio and try to tune in his program, you have to wait for several seconds for him to say something to tune in the station. That is not just my opinion. Dale Dudley has mentioned this many times.

Ed Clements has always been informative, energetic, and entertaining. They are good together IF they talk sports.

I just can't listen to them in the hope that they will talk about sports every once in a while. I think in the past, the 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM hour was dedicated to sports but I don't think that is the case anymore.

They have been talking about the changes the past few weeks (little hints, one at a time) on KLBJ-FM. It sounds like far right radio is not holding the listeners so they are trying this shift to the middle on KLBJ-AM.

Except for Limbaugh, of course. Is he still attracting local ads here in Austin? I understand that a number of stations across the country seem to be dropping him due to weak local sales.

I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully someone has some information about Rush Limbaugh and KLBJ-AM.

It would be interesting to know whether there is a direct correlation between Rush Limbaugh and KLBJ-AM dropping to 15th, 16th, or 17th (there are three stations tied for 15th in August 2015 with a 2.7 share).

I don't follow the rankings/ratings but I thought that KLBJ-AM had been in the top five or top ten for many years.
