No More Good Time Oldies

1600 had flipped to "Praise" So the Very Last hint of "Oldies" on Central Florida Radio is gone.Too bad I frequently enjoyed tuning into 1600 in the car here in Daytona-Killer Signal! Ho Hum...Now that's Gone!

YES,WZNZ they come Booming In over the last Year & a half since 1590 in South Daytona has been Off The Air.

Is there any news on 1590?

FCC MMB Database confirms it was transferred to JULIA T. CHERRY REVOCABLE LIVING TRUST is LICENSED with the Current Lic Expiring on 02/01/2020 but the Station is still DARK.I have not heard IF or WHEN they plan on going back on the air.

Would be neat the have it & Plug "Good Time Oldies" and work on getting a Translator for it.If they could get a CP to go 5Kw (Like They Had in the 80's) you could get a 250 watt Translator & Cover a Good Portion of the Daytona Market.

I'm curious how long WPUL has been dark. As for a 5 kw upgrade, I'm not aware of any stations standing in the way although a co-channel 5kw station has long since been licensed in Port Saint Lucie and may be a problem. I remember when WPUL was WELE and co-owned with WELE-FM 105.9 eons ago.

jm to the best of my knowledge WPUL Went dark on 3:03 AM on Feb 17,2014 (Daytona Times Article),Official FCC Paperwork-PSI's request states that Station WPUL(AM) went silent on February 18, 2014, for technical
reasons. Special Temporary Authority, the broadcast license for Station WPUL(AM) will
automatically expire as a matter of law if broadcast operations do not commence by 12:01 a.m.,
February 19, 2015.(FCC May 28,2014).The station went silent on February 18, 2014 as the station was in need of repair. The
broadcast license for Station WPUL(AM) will automatically expire as a matter of law if broadcast
operations do not commence by 12:01 a.m., February 19, 2015. Therefore, the station is requesting STA
to operate from an alternate site location.
Specifically, WPUL(AM) proposes to temporarily relocate to a site located approximately 5.3 kilometers
(3.3 miles) north of the licensed site. The station proposes to operate non-directionally from an existing
tower with a daytime power of 250 watts and a nighttime power of 32 watts.(FCC Feb 10,2015)
PSI Filed a Resumption of Operations under Temporary STA on Feb 10,2015.Consummation Notice was filed on 8/4/15
