Im impressed they are at 4.4 overall and each book they are improving, this puts Cumulus in a tight space, both their full power FM's are doing excellent, so whats a corporate to do when they have a medium signal doing well? Try to get the FCC to increase their power?
The only way Cumulus would get a better signal would be if they forced out KUAT at 90.5 FM, i think KUAT is non-commercial, im not saying that will happen but anything is possible, commercial radio has priority over noncommercial FM's.
I know some corporates have done just that, forced out other religious stations, not in Tucson though.
KSZR is licensed as a Class A FM station. They cannot increase their power.
90.5 is in the non-commercial portion of the FM band. Commercial operation below 92.1 MHz is not permitted.

Thanks Frank for the clarification, it seems though that KSZR is in a bind if they want to get more Listeners outside of the immediate Tucson area, the signal doesn't carry very far.
Just called Lotus Corp and suggested they flip KCMT to Classic Hip Hop, its interesting that a limited signal on 97.5 playing Hip Hop is doing better than a full power spanish format, i recommended they look into maybe it would be worth competing against KSZR, seeing how full power FM's stations do better ratings wise as they have more Listeners they can attract.
A spike in ratings does not mean a knee jerk reaction for a signal upgrade. A upgrade would not necessarily translate into bigger ratiings, or more revenue. I once was at a NAB conference, one station stood up and said we are #1 in the market, to which the #5 station stood up and said congrats, but we are #1 in revenue. I also seen a couple of cases where a A or C3 has outperformed a big C0.
