KTFM finally gets RDS?

KTFM finally gets RDS? I havn't noticed them ever to broadcast RDS, unless I wasn't able to pick it up but I notice it this weekend.

I believe you may have simply not been able to receive the text from your location, jras. KTFM has had the data display for a little while now. I never paid much attention to it, heck...I don't even pay much attention to the scrolling text from the Houston stations (not while I'm trying to drive, lol!), but it's been there. Only reason I know this to be true is because my brother in law's daughter is an avid listener of theirs. As you can imagine, I much prefer what's airing on the old KTFM. Sure wish Houston's dial would've gotten more of a chance with Jack, but I digress.

That's a story for another topic...

Kind of out of the market but I wish KHTZ would have RDS. I'd like to see what songs some of the time they play when I'm in the area.

Well KNBT in New Braunfels plays Texas country and is online, but I don't hear as many of the silly songs, LOL.
Not saying that there's anything wrong with KNBT, in fact it's a good station. I listen sometimes and can pick it up in north SA here by 281.

102.7 is on top of Alpha's cluster with a 2.8.

Methinks a name change is in order at KZEP...

Lukewarm 104-5. Hey, this is much better than K-Zep....now it's getting beaten by the 105-7 translator.

Uh-huh.

Well KZEP could change to Rhythmic AC, like the format listing for it says, and they could call it "cool 104"?

I would love to see 104.5 transition to a similar format as 103.5 KTU in New York.

Although, I think the format on 105.7 will eventually be moved to 104.5.

What about 1033 the app? I guess it didn't show up? Been noticing lately that I haven't seen much from them on FB like normally.

The signal for 103.3 barely makes it here where I live when compared to 107.1. Aren't they on the same tower? Weird.

Maybe it has to do with 107.1 being mono. In my experience mono FM signals travel further with clearer reception.

Oh and what's with the spanish songs being added lately?

KTFM is appealing to the masses. I get it and I think its a great strategy but I don't get all the Hip Hop crap. Hot airs more Hip Hop music and they are still in sh!t hole. Why KTFM is continuing this track is beyond me. If hasn't worked in the past 6+ months, why the fk continue the same path? I could be wrong so feel free to correct me but KTFM is worse off with Grooves than it was with Landis. Time to go!!

IMO, Alpha Media needs to bring a PD thats 100% dedicated to radio oppose to side projects and promoting lame ass hip hop artist that no one has ever heard of.

On a side note, a market survey was being conducted a month ago with KISS type music. Galloway Research was spear heading the survey.

Something I've noticed is that now Hot 104.5 is speeding up it's music and the audio quality is rather terrible. Seems they're using a low bitrate transmitter feed or something.
Could that be why it's ratings are getting lower? KBBT and KMYO sound great audio-wise when compared to it. They all could use more bass though, especially KBBT.

Highly unlikely. Hot is on life support due to the number of stations in the market having a somewhat similar playlist. I still vote for a KTU format to replace 104.5 current format.

The WKTU concept would have to be modified as it is designed to have a significant core of persons of Afro-Antillean origin or culture, as well as those in NYC influenced by or attracted by that "flavor".
