Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune

I recently saw promos for Jeopardy moving to 3pm on KTRK this fall. Is the Wheel also making the move to 13 as well? What will also happen to Millionaire, since I know they were renewed for another year?

Doubtful KHOU would give up Wheel; and if they were, KTRK (or whomever) would already be running promos touting it.

I heard a few months back, from a former Co-worker of mine (who jumped ship to KHOU), that 11 was expanding the 4pm news to an hour this fall. That effectively displaces Jeopardy! from the schedule, so no surprise 13 is picking it up.

11News at 4 must be getting decent numbers from "Ellen" for them to expand the newscast. On the other hand, its possible those viewers are simply sticking around through the news to watch Jeopardy!

Traditionally Jeopardy! ends up on ABC O&O stations. Houston is probably the exception because KTRK was a CapCities station before they acquired ABC. KHOU just happened to be a charter member of Jeopardy!. Too bad their membership will end soon!

"Jeopardy! and Wheel have since become staples on seven of ABC's eight owned-and-operated stations (WABC, KABC/Los Angeles, WLS, WPVI/Philadelphia, KGO/San Francisco, WTVD/Raleigh-Durham and KFSN/Fresno). The only exception is KTRK in Houston, which has never carried both game shows (in part due to an hour-long newscast in the Prime Time Access hour where Wheel would normally broadcast); both game shows have aired since the 1980s on Tegna-owned CBS affiliate KHOU. However, beginning September 14, 2015 KTRK will begin airing Jeopardy!, making it the last ABC-owned station to do so, though Wheel will continue to air on KHOU as KTRK continues to carry two separate half-hour newscasts in the 6 p.m. access hour."

KHOU carried 30 seasons of Jeopardy! so far. Most shows don't last that long, especially in syndication. I wonder how many seasons KTRK will carry until Jeopardy! ends for good?

It will be a big change! For my entire life, I've only known that Jeopardy comes on mid-afternoon on KHOU. Didn't find out about ABC O&Os usually had first dibs (especially in the big 5 markets) until the internet age. I'll have to remember to tune to 13 instead from now on.
