Louisville Summer Quarter Ratings

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb055

I think WGHL actually is starting to wear out a bit (but WMJM seems to have bounced back), I'm interested in seeing how they do in the fall and winter. They're still doing better than much of what has been at 105.1 in a while though. The Max still continues to fall. And as usual, WLGX is still a failure, but slightly improved from spring.

It is interesting to see how WAY-FM has really gone down. Not that it matters, ratings are pretty much irrelevant to them... they own stations and do just one format. But at least WLGX can say that they aren't the lowest rated of the FMs now.

It's still kind of strange seeing WHAS in third place. It's been a year now but I still can't get used to "Newsradio 840" instead of "84 WHAS"
Looks like WRKA has passed up their sister WQNU although both have gone up. I guess there wont be Classic Hip Hop on 103.9 :)
I thought WHBE 680 would be up this time since Football season started. And still 93.9 The Ville is not in the ratings at all.Maybe with the UofL scandal and all of the time "ESPN Louisville" is talking about it the ratings will improve.Or maybe not!
I still have hope that the end of the dreadful "MY FM" will come someday very soon.

If WHBE shows up in the ratings, why doesn't WLCL if the are owned by the same company? I am surprised WHBE dropped in the ratings, I would have thought they would have passed WKRD with all the local programming. WKJK continues to beat them both with KSR leading the way. I still think WKJK would do even better if they went all uk sports talk to counter 790 and 93.9.

It always intrigues me to see how people think Kentucky Sports Radio is this magical and powerful force that is somehow keeping WKJK alive. WKJK has a 1.0 share with it on the air. That's miserable no matter how you look at it. Without it, they'd probably still have a 1.0 share. MAYBE a 0.9.

It's a two hour island on a sleepy radio station. It does well for sports talk radio, I'll grant you that much, but a lot of it is because of the personality and temperament of the guy hosting it. If Matt Jones were to leave and somebody like Joe B. Hall (or almost anybody else) replaced him, it would just be another low-rated sports program.

It's an effective way to fill two hours on WKJK and they shouldn't change that. But there is only one Matt Jones, and his show is very personality driven. Look at all of the UofL-based radio shows... by and large, they've got very knowledgeable people hosting them, but they're not exciting people that make you want to listen. It's not a UofL-based radio show phenomenon, the UK-based ones are pretty boring too. Matt Jones has stood out, but that really isn't because he is hosting a truly interesting show but rather because he his show seems to be a lot less about UK sports and a lot more about Matt Jones trying to make Matt Jones the center of attention to the greatest extent possible. If they go "all sports" or "all Kentucky sports," it's going to be very difficult (if not impossible) to fill that other 22 hours a day with stuff that people will listen to, and it could ultimately hurt them.

I couldn't agree with you more.

If u mix in KSR, Tom Leach, Thomas Beisner and TJ Walker along with CBS sports radio or Fox sports radio u would have a great sports station!

The only thing I really listen to on 1080 is Sean Hannity. If they did switch the format to UK sports, I wonder where his show would end up.

I'm sure you've never seen the ratings breakdown by daypart or you probably wouldn't say that.

That's my point, I'm sure the hours from 9a to 12p are the highest ratings on the station, thus why an all sports format would be best for the station

That's right I forgot about that, how cool would it be for him to announce he is not running for office but staying on radio and taking KSR to 790 and flip it to all uk sports radio
