Flashing Light Relay

I'm looking to make an overhead light (120v) flash when power is applied.

I've never used relays for much so I'm looking for recommendations. Links are certainly appreciated. :)

The simplest circuit is probably a 555 IC driving a solid state relay which causes the lamp to flash.
Simple to build and inexpensive.

I wasn't even aware that those were still being made!
Please note that they are rated for 60 watts. Lower wattage bulbs may not draw enough current to make the unit function (the lamp may not flash).

Really appreciate the information. Thanks frankberry and Kelly A!
