I like the creative thinking that is going on with this, however, it isn't so creative for some of us old-timers.
TV has done well with live, or almost live broadcasts in the past couple of decades. NBC's "Will & Grace" did atleast two live shows and both were winners. However, I wonder how this might translate to radio. With TV the attraction was that something would go horribly wrong and the actors would crack up, turning the show into a bloopers special, which audiences love. On radio, the jury is still out. And jingles? On KISW? Have they ever used jingles? I assume they are referring to commercial jingles, and if so, good luck on getting that Sleep Train whistle right on the mark! But again, is there any real interest in that?
So some of us over the age of AARP membership this novel idea is nothing new. Hell, this WAS radio up until about 1990 or so, perhaps without the live commercials and jingles...you would be hard pressed to find many who remember that style of radio. So the question comes down to this: Was radio better when it was actually live, and jocks made mistakes, and jingles were blown, and dead air was common because Michael Mitchell (fictional) was talking to a groupie on the phone?
Yep.
