Yule Log 2015

It's that time of year when some local stations and cable networks will air the Yule Log on Christmas Day. DISH got a head start by airing "DISH Holiday Fireplace" today (December 24) on channel 456, a channel normally reserved for pay-per-view sporting events.

In the Fort Myers/Naples tv market, WXCW channel 46 will begin airing the Yule Log* at 5:00am Christmas morning.

*Not sure if it will be a yule log in a fireplace or, like last year, a bonfire by a palm tree next to the river.

Diginets too ... Antenna TV will also do a Yule Log for four hours starting at 6:00am ET/3:00am PT tomorrow (Christmas) morning.

Phoenix will get the short shrift again this year, with KUTP/45 only airing the Yule Log from 6 to 9 AM. May have to check the home shopping channels to see if they're airing it, since the diginets aren't available on DirecTV.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries was airing a Yule Log at 3PM today when I checked.
No local channels have a Yule Log. CW Plus USED to, and they did last year. KCPQ 13 Seattle still has their Yule Log...and several hours worth of Antenna TV programming replacing trash talk! Way to go Q13 Fox! Now if only that was every day.

And I just realized that KCAL/9 (CBS-owned independent) here in L.A. will be doing the Yule Log starting at midnight and continuing until 10:00am, as will KTLA/5 (Tribune-owned CW station) from 4:00am to noon. The latter will be simulcasting iHeart's KOST/103.5, which is the all-Christmas station in the market (although the Tribune listings on my TiVo still refer to it as "Clear Channel's KOST-FM" ... LOL).

KTLA will then simulcast Antenna TV from 5.2 until 5:30pm. I find that rather interesting.

Atlanta: WPCH/17 and WATL/36 are each running different Yule Logs.

Just like last year...

The music is a simulcast of "sister" station WINK-FM.

Same thing with their sister station in Hartford, CT. WCCT-TV is simulcasting Antenna TV 4AM-10AM/11AM-4PM including the Yule Log. WCCT's in market sister station FOX 61 runs Antenna on 61.2

They reason the simulcast stops for an hour is because WCCT-TV is required to run a live Catholic Mass 7 days a week at 10AM. It's much like how ABC Family (soon to be Freeform) is required to air The 700 Club although several times during their "25 Days of Christmas" they blew out several airing of The 700 Club.

The Christmas Day Antenna TV simulcast was done across most Tribune owned stations largely this year to promote the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson reruns starting January 1, especially the weekend shows which will be the 1970's and early 80's 90 minute shows not seen in years.

Last year, many Tribune stations took the Antenna TV simulcast as well...including KCPQ.
Now if only we could go back to the 1980s...morning crime drama reruns, a noon movie and afternoon cartoons. But that won't ever happen.

The only one I saw scheduled was on KWGN 2 (CW) from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM (Sister KDVR 31 stuck with regular programming)

Cheers & 73 :)

Comcast offered one on demand in both SD and 3D!. I played the SD version as we opened gifts. Glad it was available OTA in many markets. I hope it returns with Antenna TV to Detroit before next Christmas.
