The Bull combo doesn't appear to be having much of an effect on the long established 680 KKYX as of yet. "Y-100" takes a bit of a backwards step, as does "Hot" which really has cooled off quite a bit.

You can hear very similar music on 94.1, 95.1, 96.1, 98.5 & 104.5; too much saturation. IHeart seems pretty committed to the format, but the 104.5 The Edge domain that y'all mentioned over in Houston I thought might have San Antonio overtones. 99.5 KISS and the Eagle have a combined 10.5 share 6 + anyway. Not sure you want to split a 10 share 3 ways, but it would be a higher rating than 104.5 currently receives. The Spanish Hits format on 105.7 may also be a good fit for 104.5 (looking strictly at numbers).

Hot needs to just call it off. Way too much overlap with the other top 40 stations playing the same music. If one of them played Urban music like The Box in Houston or Electronic Dance Music like C 89.5 in Seattle, that's one thing. But with all this generic rhythmic top 40 no wonder some of the stations aren't doing that well. Just my opinion.

Same here. Hot needs to go. I'm not surprised 104.5 went alternative as "Alt 104.5." Now that App is around, I doubt 104.5 would go alternative. iHeart could bring back the classic rock format or give 99.5 a competitor by going active/mainstream rock.

I disagree with you though about SA needing only one low powered alternative translator. I'd listen more if the signal wasn't that weak, and if the audio quality and EQ were set better. Right now the EQ on 103.3 sounds very unwarm.

Just curious why everyone thinks 104.5 needs change and not 95.1. I believe Hot has had better numbers compared to 95.1.

After posting, I began listening to 95.1. 95.1 has made an adjustment to the format. Adds include but not limited to Neneh Cherry, Will to Power, Expose, Black Box, Bobby Brown, etc. They still lean heavy on the Hip Hop but the uptempo beats are sprinkled in.

See? Now that's the problem I have with "Boom" in Houston. They play Madonna, Shannon, and Debbie Deb. That isn't classic hip hop, it isn't even hip hop, period.

Expose....c'mon. No wonder the two stations are slipping. Neneh Cherry? You mean that "Buffalo Stance" song? If that tested well in San Antonio, you guys need to turn off the radio and get out more, lol.

95-1 sounds better, in my experience, than 104-5 does...but that's no wonder to me. Univision knows how to program hip hop of any variation. Party 104-9, here in Houston, was top notch. Had KLTO not been sold to EMF, Party 97-7 would've remained a tremendous 1-2 punch with The Beat and you'd likely have never seen 104-5 get Hot at all.

Purpledevil, these are two different markets. Freestyle was huge in SA so it makes sense for 95.1 to add Freestyle. The problem with 95.1 is that they will do these adjustments just to revert back. This will likely last a week.

Yeah, I know the two markets pretty well..having been around each of them for the last 25 years or so. I remember San Antonio in the late 80s, early 90s, and had you gone down S. Flores bumping Expose's "Point of No Return", you'd have promptly been removed from the car and had an eye darkened for it, lol. Again, hip hop it's not...classic or otherwise. Leave that stuff for KTFM and its retro fare.

95.1 has to do what's best to stay competitive in this market. Unlike Boom in Houston, Yo 95.1 has never identified themselves as a Classic Hip Hop station. It's always been, "Classic Jams". While "Yo" may give the perception of Hip Hop, your average radio listener doesn't care.

LOL yeah, it is listing the formats of the parent stations for those translators. Apparently Q101-9 is still listed as "Holiday" Music.

Uh, it's Christmas music with a capital C!
