102.9 and 104.5 simulcasting.

Sort of!! They are both live from El Rodeo Disco. Playing the same music at the same time and when the DJs are going to talk the volume of the music goes down with each Dj from each station talking then they go back to the music again playing the same songs. Like El Rodeo Music is playing on both Stations.

And in my opinion the music sounds better on 104.5.

It's the same music though. Or do you mean audio quality and EQ?

It's very interesting that two competing stations would air the same broadcast, never quite heard of that before.

I meant Audio quality, I know 102.9 has a stronger signal that reaches way more than 104.5. But 104.5 has their EQ setup better. And I agree I had never heard that either.

"La Mejor" only wishes it could compete with ciento dos PUNTO nueve. I've heard it before, just not with these two. Sometimes, clubs book two DJs.

It does compete with it, remember David and Goliath? Remember the arrow vs the eagle?

102-9 is a personality station while 104.5 is a mostly music translator. In the sense that all stations compete, they are competitors but in reality there is no direct competition.

Rene Rodriguez El Trenecito, La Tamaulipeca all seem like personalities to me. And most listeners don't care if it's a translator or a station they don't know the difference. As long as it sounds good in the radio that's all that matters. I bet they don't even know the difference between LA RAZA and 102.9 not 104.5. Remember when people said 102.9 will always be ESTEREO LATINO?

They are not personalities, they are DJs who used to work at bigger stations. If they were "personalities" they'd be featured on the station's website. They aren't. Instead, they feature community events from September.

And most listeners don't care if it's a translator or a station they don't know the difference.

They sure know that they can't get it indoors more than a few miles from the transmitter, and if they drive across town, they lose the signal.

Well, the month before La Mejor went on the air 102.9 had a 7.5 in 18-49 and in the next book, with La Mejor on the air they had a 7.9. So much for competition.

La Mejor has not grown in the 4 measured weeks on the air, having the same under-1-share that they debuted with.

Well sure sounds good inside where I work in the Heights. Sounds good in my house by Crosstimbers and Jensen. 102.9 isn't invisible they can't last for ever especially with all their talk programs they have. Raul Brindis is loved by thousands yes. El Bueno LA MALA Y EL FEO are also. But doesn't change the fact that people will start listening to 104.5 slowly but surely.

I love TEJANO MUSIC but I know playing it on the radio will hurt them.

What if ENTRAVISION buys it and changes the format of 1180 am and simulcasts it on 104.5 so Piolin could be back on FM?

That's a whole lot of "what if", Señor. What if Entravision just sells the standalone KGOL to Hector Guevara and he feeds 104-5 with it as "La Mejor"? What if they sell it to David Gow and it continues on as is, or he simulcasts KFNC on it? I'm pretty sure ol' Entravision is pretty happy letting David Gow pay them to run ESPN Deportes Radio on that puppy. I mean, all those years of instability at 1180, morphing from one brokered program to another almost monthly...and sometimes weekly.

Remember the Alamo? Ciento dos PUNTO nueve may be Goliath, but in this parable, he squishes David and his pea shooter like an ant, lol. Tejano music isn't the fatal poison killing "La Mejor", trying to take 102-9 head on is. Going all-Tejano might actually be an advantage for "La Mejor", differentiating it from "La Raza" & "102.9". That is, if you can find enough people inside the Belt who still want to hear 20-30 year old Tejano music.

You mean the same Piolín who is getting around a 1 share in his target in LA, and loses to KLVE, KLAX, KBUE, KXOS, KLYY, KRCD, KWIZ, KXOL and KSCA in mornings.

Heck, don't they already have Joe Morales as the station voice? They could play conjunto music and have 30 and 40 year old music!

I think it is "Goliad" and not "Goliath" in this case. :D

Tried to give a "rep" point for this post, but alas, the system tells me to spread the love around, I already gave you a rep point somewhere else in the last 30 days. Apparently, you can only dole out so much love for a good post.

Anyway, thumbs up. That's good stuff, right there...

¡Muchísimas gracias, mi amigo!

I wish I knew spanish language, there's a lot of radio listening there I could do, (and TV too) that might be entertaining, but me no comphrende!

I noticed my car started picking up LA NUEVA 94.1 in Stereo sound yesterday.

Ha! Seeing how it's in Fiesta's parking lot, I'll go with option C and say they probably spent a little too much time inside Fiesta Liquor.
