WEEI names Tim Neverett to Red Sox play-by-play post

I have to say I am impressed with what the new regime at WEEI is doing. I believe they were #3 overall with adults 25-54 right behind Magic and Hub in the fall book. They have made smart moves on the air with Ordway, Minihane and Thornton. Now Neverette looks like a solid hire to replace Dave O'Brien...and all without the circus that happened when NESN botched the Orsillo deal. When you consider where EEI was a year ago it's pretty remarkable.

I too am impressed with how they have re-energized the station in a now competitive environment that they didn't have to worry aboput previously. The changes from the new management have been well thought out and without the (to use your word) "circus" that had enveloped the station in the past. Ordway rejoined the station, as is keeping a much lower profile than before.

Would these changes (and the way it's being done) be the result of Phil Zachary running the place? In the past they had the Regan PR firm handling their public communications...with mixed results. Are they still involved?

I also see some(!) positive changes with WRKO....and sense that someone takes some pride in the product for once. I had always got the impression that it was the ugly stepsister of WEEI....and that no onecared much about it, as long as it didn't cost too much money. I got the impression that they thought it had limited potential....and treated it as such

Read somewhere Castig can beat Ned Martin's
longevity record with this year and maybe then
would retire...?
Neverett will probably be fine;heard their radio
broadcast when I visited the city and took in
a game at PNC and it wasn't bad. Will he be
like that former Pirate,a certain pitcher, who
did well after coming to Boston?

Count me as another person who thinks WEEI has turned things around.

Thought Ordway & company had the far better post game show for the Pats yesterday.

The Sports Hub has week links in Bertrand and the afternoon Troll show.
