Format for 106.9 in Louisville?

Perhaps an extra hour of non-stop music for your work day? Didn't Q-103.1 do that a few months back?

These domain names were registered on Christmas Eve (anonymously, of course, so they can't definitively be traced to 106.9):

play1069.com
1069play.com

And Summit also just happens to have a 103.7 Play in Richmond, VA that isn't a whole lot different from 106.9, although really it seems more like 102.3 or 100.5. (http://www.1037play.com/)

Of course, who knows? Jamz 103.9 never materialized despite those domain names being registered. Then again, nothing was ever advertised on air about any changes then either, that was just 100% speculation that turned out to be nothing (well, at least so far).

Play 106.9 seems to be very likely based upon these domain names. The question is, though, is whether they'll sound exactly the same as they do now or if they'll sound more Hot AC. And if they're going to be more Hot AC, I just wonder how that would affect 100.5 and 102.3. Obviously 100.5 is a disaster even with just one direct competitor.

According to RadioInsight in their Daily Domains 12/29 article (which I can't read because I don't pay $5.00 a month) "Summit prepping Louisville and Birmingham changes" I guess there's a change coming in both places.
Meanwhile on 106.9's Twitter there is a new banner. It's also on their Facebook.

I am not a fan of the "Play" branding. Mix would be a better choice.

106.9 doesn't need to be like 100.5, 98.9, 99.7 and 102.3. Too many Hot AC stations.

99.7 98.9 aren't hot ac they are chr but still 3 would be to many hot ac's. If 106.9 does go hot ac then 100.5 should go ac.
Lite 100.5

Lite 100.5

Honestly, between 98.9, 99.7, 100.5, 102.3, and 106.9 (and throw in 98.3 while we're at it), the lines between AC/Hot AC/CHR have been very blurry lately. 100.5 feels like a hybrid between 99.7 and 102.3, 106.9 is already very similar to 102.3, and oddly enough the two that seem most different are 98.9 and 99.7 (even though they legitimately have the same format). 98.3 stands out a little bit since they do regularly play some 70s and 80s stuff, but really everything just sort of blurs together anymore.

I wonder if the "WVEZ" letters will change also.

I don't think they would. It seems like nobody bothers changing call letters that much anymore (though WLRS/WESI/WGHL was a recent exception to that) unless there is a really good reason, like WAKY which is sort of meaningless branding without those call letters. For that matter, WVEZ is a leftover from the "EZ" days of the 80s and early 90s.

106.9 is really all over the place.Yesterday afternoon I heard "Get Down Tonight" by KC And The Sunshine Band,"Black Or White" by Michael Jackson, and "Love Me Tomorrow" by Chicago all in a row.

Cat is out of the bag (sort of)... they took down the Lite 106.9 website and it is nothing but a splash page now. But if you do a Google search for "Jeff and MJ" and click on the Lite 106.9 page that you find, you'll find something completely unsurprising. I won't link it here but the logo you find at the top of that page isn't Lite 106.9...

Just based upon the logo (and listening to the Play in Richmond, VA online), I have a feeling they're going to go much heavier towards Hot AC. The VA one actually seems closer to CHR than Hot AC even (sort of like 100.5).

And speaking of 100.5, I can't understand how they keep going at all, their audience share for fall 2015 has fallen so low (1.2) that they are now at half of what 93.1 has now (2.4). In fact, they did worse than WKJK for the fall quarter, which is a new low for them.

Now they've removed the new logo at the top of the page for the Jeff and MJ page. They forgot to get the one on the bottom of the page though.

Well I think summit media owes all of us on here a consultancy fee. We have suggested a rebranding for years now. It only took 8 years or so. Wonder if they will continue w 24/7 Christmas during the yuletide?

Time will tell. I think they should go mix not play.
