After Christmas Format changes in Alabama? None?

Nope, I haven't heard anything yet.
I'm keeping an eye on a few stations, though. First is WENN 1320/translators in Birmingham. They went Christmas music back in August or September and I'm curious what the future is for this duo. I've been listening for the last few minutes and the stream is no longer Christmas. They're playing One Direction, but no liners so far.
Next is the WTXT-HD2/3 and associated translators in Tuscaloosa. Both the 92.1 and 96.1 translators are on the air, but relaying WJRD last I heard. 96.1 is going to be paired with WTXT-HD2 according to filings, and 92.1 will eventually land with the HD3. I only have one contact at the moment in T-town and I don't think he has an HD radio, so I don't know if the digital side is up and running or not. I guess not.
The other is 1050 WBNM in Alex City and its translator. It's being acquired by Marble City Media and they're already LMA'ing, but right now it's just relaying 105.1 The Lake, WRFS with classic hits.
Other than that… no idea what's going on.

I see WIQR Prattville turning in their license, unless they find something that'll work for them. This R&B thing was an abject failure for them. I saw that coming, after they took this route.
I see WZNN Maplesville remaining silent, till all the bugs are fixed. When they return, expect them to keep the SG WKLF Clanton thing in place. That's where I see them having the best success.
I see everything else here remaining the same.
I see the Hope Hull 93.5 FM move in going Sports Talk, when they sign on.
I see WPJB-LP Jesus Radio signing on between May and December of 2016. Just got two free fax machines and a freestanding tower. Fixing to get more free gear, as I post this. If God sees fit and the rain will hold off, going to start building, sometime next month. Still waiting for Mr, Keith Hammond to file a new app., so we can make the antenna and transmitter move official with the FCC. Once it's been approved, going to set up the transmitting facilities behind the studio building and put the antenna, at the top of this donated tower. I believe the tower is less than 100 feet tall. It's in great condition but needs some touching up. Will work on that, once I get it home. This tower was used by WAQU AFR 91.1 FM, when they had a small studio here. (My first radio gig.)

We thought about going Classical just for the ABMP
Just noticed that the updates for the past two days are dated December 1, 2016 and December 2, 2016. I didn't know that you're clairvoyant. 
Still trying to get in touch with him. He's the one I hired to help build Jesus Radio. Waiting on him to help me officially relocate the antenna and transmitter, to the WPJB-LP studio, so I can start building. If all goes well, hope to be on sometime before the end of this year.

As far as I know those simulcasts are still in place. WJLQ-LP in Jackson should be on the air and the Monroeville one, WIDZ-LP has about two weeks until the CP expires, so who knows.
Both are too far from me for me to catch a listen, and I have no other contributors in that part of AL, so it may be a while before I know anything.

Neither WEZZ nor WENN has flipped as of (nearly) noon today, so… If nothing happens by the end of the day, I'm taking them off my 'radar'. WENN is easy enough to stream via the birminghameasy.com website but WEZZ is a pain in the rear. There's a 30 second pre-roll video ad for some auto mall in Hoover, and every single time I've tried to access the stream this ad stutters and balks and takes a good 5 minutes to play through. Half the time I get a timed out error trying to load the streaming thing, anyway. It won't load at all in Chrome, probably due to my ad/flash blocking extensions.
And Summit's Android streaming app is a joke. My Radio Preset has all their stations but it is so fundamentally broken as to be useless.
Radio stations have been streaming for, what… 20 years now? And everyone except iHeart still can't figure out how to make it work painlessly on desktop and phone.

Been doing some spying and saw nothing about a change. This may have been a rumor to get us simpletons talking. Well if it was, then mission accomplished. Now if anyone wants to talk about any future changes, in the black belt area, go for it. Here me now and quote me later, no changes are going to happen, unless WPJB-LP signs on. These other players are staying as is. Everything we have here, seems to be working well.
Now when I do sign on, some will say will Moody or AFR bring a Reality Radio Birmingham moment to your hometown? This means will one of those bigger sticks ditch the talk and go all music to compete with me. My answer will be not happening. I see them keeping their mostly to all talk thing going. They'll just sit back and count their donations, while I do the mostly musical thing. If they see their broadcast will be threatened by a little old 100 watt LPFM station, then one of them might entertain a change. However, they'll more than likely let Dan have this presentation all to himself. He's best suited for it. We'll take care of the talk, since we've been good at it for all these years now.

Do you think WLDA at 93.5 will ever sign on in Montgomery, and will it present a signal issue to WPJB-LP since it'll be one channel over?
I think it might sign on, sometime this year. Here's Radio-Locator's predicted coverage area for them: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WLDA&service=FM&status=C&hours=U The blue line doesn't make into all of Selma. Just the far east side only. According to this link: http://fccdata.org/?facid=62206 this station won't even cover Selma, at all. To make this story short, sweet and simple, there's no need to worry about this move in. I don't see their signal interfering with mine.

I have a feeling that someone else here will have more information on the Frisco City permit. It has about a year left to be built out if I remember correctly. I certainly look forward to seeing what becomes of it. That's kind of a no-man's land for radio with only a few choices, so hopefully it'll be successful at whatever it brings to that area. Plus, Frisco City is one of my favorite Alabama town names, along with Megargel and Arab.
The WYFR-LP permit in Fairhope expires in September. I often wonder if they're aware of the history behind those calls. When I see WYFR I think shortwave radio in Okeechobee, Florida. Radio Miami International swept up that massive impressive facility when Family Radio went down the tubes. This LPFM is licensed to the non-descript "Fairhope Radio" so I have no idea what'll become of it. Fairhope always seemed ripe for a community focused station, though. And now it may have two!
WNPG-LP permit expires a little sooner — July. It's also much further east of Fairhope so if it ever goes on the air I may actually stand a chance of hearing it over here in Factory Outlet Town. I can usually hear W295BB @ 106.9 after dark, and it's even further away and runs 99 watts.
USA's "The Prowl" WJGR-LP is up in the air, IMHO. The latest permit doesn't expire until February 2017 but from what I've heard they are struggling to get a vision together to get it on the air in a timely manner.
Finally there's WHEX-LP which is somehow supposed to serve Mobile with 100 watts from Spanish Fort. Its permit expires in January 2017, so another one that's a looong way off.

WJGR and WHEX should pool their resources, establish a time share agreement, and simulcast. Run 104.7 from The Beat's tower and 97.1 from the WKRG tower.
If the donations come flooding in and 100 watt signals are viable at Mobile Bay, they can divorce after they become (non)-profitable.
