Nice web blog. I remember seeing some of those pics when they originally ran in the Cincinnati Post. WNOP was a great day time station. The Jazz ark was a true original in every way and sadly there isn't a replacement for it found anywhere online. Loved when they would have the comedy breaks mixed in with the normal Jazz format and their classic sign off.

There was talk when WNOP was sold that they would try to pop up again as an online station but it never happened. I think if you copied the format and present it the same as the old WNOP it could be a popular niche format.

Jazz and comedy is an interesting mixture. I think that it would be a good format but I don't think that anyone would risk it on FM.

It could work as Internet only, or perhaps on an AM signal like 1320 or 910. Both are for sale.

I wish that 1320 had better coverage out in the suburbs...even if it is a daytimer only it would do better with more solid coverage beyond the city limits.

What is top dollar for that station in this economy and market???

If I remember correctly, Dick Pike did rock and roll in the afternoons from something like 3-5 PM in the late fifties. Anyone else remember that?

I have a s***load of WNOP tapes, mostly from the year 2000, but quite a few from the jazz ark, unfortunately, I don't know how to upload it. Anyone able to help?

I've got some on cd, some on cassette, and some even on VHS tape

For those who are interested, a search of "Leo Underhill" on Youtube has turned up an interesting gem.. a late 1970's (?) TV interview with him AT the Jazz Ark. The segment is titled "Please Don't Die Tonight". Thoughts???

I just watched it and thought it was hilarious. Boy, do I miss those days! Now that the Catholic group bought WPFB, I wonder if they would consider selling WNOP? I may be interested....

major, Why in the world would they want to sell WNOP? The reason they bought WPFB was to cover the northern part of the market. In no way can WPFB's signal replace WNOP's.
