Jack 100.7 Hints Format Change

I have loved the week of stunting. The yacht rock day with a tip of the hat to WBUF Buffalo wss clasdic. Finally day of "rat pack" is today and then in to the new format. Any guesses on the name?? Pretty sure it will be a combo of classic rock and aaa. Looking forward to something new!
Actually, you don't even know this to be the last day. You only have the stations word for it but that could just be part of the stunt.

And if recent flips in other markets mean anything, any format flip will be to something that skews rhythmic, young and female. Unless it's sports talk.

I really do think they will tailor their format to the DSC. Will def be some form of rock radio. They tried female with Jack and we are now stunting lol

Well its supposed to be disco day.
But this hour i have heard

Why cant this be love
Van halen
1986
And robert palmer
Best of both worlds
1978. Not excatly disco :(.

What you list as Robert Palmer - Best Of Both Worlds - 1978 was either incorrectly misidentified / mis-tagged.
The actual track aired was Van Halen - Best Of Both Worlds - 1986 (from the album "5150").

Tuesday 12/29/2015 was "Van Halen Day" on the 100.7 FM Wheel of Formats.

While a "Disco Day" might have been mentioned as a possibility by Dave Rickards (who usually would introduce each day's format), I don't believe it ever was used as a full-day format during this stunting period.

One of the days was indeed a country music format (as mentioned earlier in this thread).

A sad sad sad state of Big Market Radio ... And they keep saying the word "New" in their liners!! San Diego's New K-F-M BE - FM, playing whatever whenever, yes real different from Playing What We Wanna Play

They really weren't a Jack station, since they had a live local show in the mornings.

InsideRadio.com:

KFMB-FM San Diego (100.7) flipped to a new format Monday that mixes classic alternative and classic rock.

And now the currently most burned out crispy crisp song - I Melt With You

All right, let's not repeat this from the KRTH thread that ended up getting a couple of people banned.

"I Melt With You" tests well. It is not considered "burned out crispy crisp" by the listeners, and as a result it will continue to be played until those listeners -- as opposed to grumpy old message board posters -- indicate that it is by lowering its rating during testing.

If this is going to be another "bitch about the frequency of song plays" discussion, I'll just go ahead and ask Frank to close it now. Would you prefer that?

Before you get your panties in a wad, please know that as on all posts here by all posters, that's my opinion about that crispy critter. Re. frequency of plays, I don't give a flying duck if they play Spirit of the Radio 10 times a day, I'm not going to be a listener anyway. (PS I don't mind hearing both versions of Hotel California because I don't hear them very often) It's just the sad fact of life in radio programming that the playlists have to appeal to the lowest common denominator of listener. IF I WERE A PROGRAMMER ASSIGNED TO MAKE MONEY, I'D DO EXACTLY THE SAME!! Luckily, I have true variety available on TuneIn Radio listening to all types of programming most of which are over the air radio stations --- Just not anywhere near SoCal/SD!!

To his credit the Big A had something constructive to say

Thanks...I love listening to the radio, and I'm not constrained by format or station. I love driving around and hitting the SCAN button, and see what comes up. I'm not turned off by hearing songs I don't know. That's what variety is about. Like Forest Gump's box of chocolates.

That's one of the coolest posts I've read here. I was listening to some of the sample formats during the stunting, I really appreciated hearing "The Outlaw" .... country songs I haven't heard in decades, nice to hear once in a while. Even Steve Earl was played ... Several of his old tracks including my favorite "Copperhead Road". Play on, Forrest!
