Hoppin' From Beaumont, Here Comes Another Translator

Here comes another translator, making its way to Houston slowly but surely. K256CC Beaumont has applied to move itself out of Beaumont, towards the southwest, placing it right off of Texas 124 just north and east of Hamshire. If it lights up from this new transmit site, it will provide 60dBu service to Winnie, Fannett, & Stowell.

I think we all know better, though. Keep your eyes open for the next lillypad to surface in the near term...

According to radio info this translator will move to 98.9.

What is it you do Purpledevil? I mean your profession? Just curious since you find out about all these stations getting upgrades.

Lol, well...I'm in the hotel business. That's one reason that I travel back and forth between Houston and San Antonio often, besides that my wife's family all lives over there in Bexar County. I offer nothing more than my uncanny ability to utilize my free time in scouring around the FCC files, looking for facilities making movements toward or away from Houston. That ability, comes from the reality that I'm still, at 49 years old, nothing more than a big ol' nerd. Spazoid, was the term I most often heard growing up, mrtejano. It's okay with me though, I keep good company around here. The room is full of them...

I guess that's why flipped formats don't irk me the way they do other people participating here. I'm interested in the facilities themselves, the history of the facilities, and what the future holds for those facilities down the road. Now, if I want to listen to a certain genre of music, I have the library to fulfill any style I desire. I don't depend on AM/FM radio to provide every type of music I may want to have a listen. The medium is not designed to accomplish that mission anyway.

The one exception to that rule, is KULF in Bellville. I hate what's been let happen, as much as what is currently happening to 1090, and that's solely due to personal attachment that I maintain for that specific facility. I've spoken about this before, no need to rehash old news.

Edit to add: You want to see another hopper, Señor? http://fccdata.org/?facid=148127
JoeFM caught this one a couple months ago, sneaking its way down I-10. It's made it just east of Columbus to this point. What it'll have to do to get around KOVE & KHPT, in hopes of hoppin' all the way to H-Town itself, remains to be seen....but I'm sure we'll be seeing another lillypad surfacing soon, now that we're out of the Holidays and into the new year.

Or it may stay in Beaumont and move the other direction...time will tell.

Question in my mind is what will this guy (Hector Guevarra) will do with all these translators? I'm pretty sure he will have 105.3 very close to Houston very soon. Will he have a Pop/Rock/bachata format? Most likely, the others he might just us to cover for areas of LA MEJOR? Or La Nueva??

And also where is he getting all the money for these translators? He sure is moving up way fast than the Villareals.

You know I've wondered the same thing.
Actually when Aleluyah was coming up I thought it was fast. This guy seems to be moving a new translator every two weeks.

This signal cannot move into Houston because of 99.1 KODA. An offer to buy or lease it on 99.1 has been made already with relocation to downtown BMT...no reply yet.

Nothing a channel change couldn't remedy, C-dub. Of course, open ones are getting to be a tough find around here.

Gonna keep it on 99-1 if you get it, eh? I thought KODA made regular appearances over there in Beaumont, but you're the engineer, I'm certainly not going to argue with you, lol.
