W261BX 100.1 New Format

Someone on this thread mentioned the registration of play973.com and 973play.com. Turns out that those domains were registered at different times. Play973.com was registered on Christmas Eve, but 973play.com was registered in July of last year. Not sure why there would be a five month delay between those domains being registered or if it means anything.

I was wondering about that stunt on 1320/100.1. If SummitMedia's plans were to move "Easy's" soft AC format to 1320/100.1, why bother doing a stunt with a hot AC format for several weeks? Seems as if "Easy" was moving to 1320/100.1, they would just begin simulcasting 97.3 with the other two stations for a period of time, so that "Easy's" listeners could migrate to 100.1 and 97.3 could debut a new format.

They probably just realized that they had not registered the inverse order domain, and wanted to make sure no competitor created a spoof site.

When looking up other domain names of Summit Media stations, I noticed that they are all registered using the same registrant email address. These two domains are not tied to the email address they use. So I wonder if these two domains have anything to do with Summit Media in the first place?

How are you guys finding out all this information? When I look at the whois info all I see are the stock GoDaddy addresses they use to hide the real registrant.

The exception seems to be 973play.com, which has an e-mail address associated with a domain squatter. They have it listed for sale along with about another 8,000 oddball domain names.

It seems that we're all excited for nothing, which is pretty much big city corporate radio in a nutshell these days. ;)

I'm still on the fence as to whether 1320/100.1's one hour loop of commercial free current hits is genius or madness, though.

Maybe the squatter heard about the play1069.com/1069play.com registrations and registered the one with "97.3" in it. Even if there is no format change for WEZZ, there is something that is being prepped for one of SummitMedia's Birmingham stations, according to RadioInsight.com, which is probably WENN/W261BX.
 
Just noticed something, y'all. Check out the registration time stamp for the play1069.com domain (which we positively know was registered by SummitMedia) and the time stamp for the play973.com registration:

play973.com - Creation Date: 2015-12-24T19:43:56Z

Both domains are registered at the same exact time: 19:43:56

That would seem to indicate those domains were registered as a group since the time stamps are identical. So, the play973.com registration could very well have been done by SummitMedia.
