Al Jazeera America to close down

Amazed they were so stubborn in sticking to the name and the logo.
That was their biggest hurdle in my opinion.

Last I heard Al Gore and Joel Hyatt were still in court trying to collect all of their back-payments.

So will the cable operators continue to carry the international Al Jazeera English if there's no programming specifically aimed at the U.S. market? It seemed in early 2015, they took most of their U.S. shows off the air, replacing them with Al Jazeera English, although they came back a few weeks later with a limited number of American shows.

I think AJE isn't that bad a network. There are times at night and on weekends when CNN and MSNBC carry non-news shows, so I go to Al Jazeera. It's funny how we have so many news channels now, yet they really don't do actual newscasts. They simply TALK about the news.

It would be sad if former Al Jazeera America affiliates would be forced to honor the AJA carriage contracts and put on One America News.

OAN really does not have any original reporting and the reporting and the shows they have make FOX News seem like a bunch of left wing Communists.

Herring Eyes Buying Al Jazeera America said:
One America News Network (OAN) parent Herring Networks is exploring buying the shuttering Al Jazeera America to get carriage on cable systems.
Ugh.
OAN is awful and deserves to remain on the absolute fringe of viewability with the scant amount of cable carriers that pipe them in.
OAN has the potential of getting numbers worse than G4 after the mass exodus of TechTV soldiers.

Community Access could hold more eyeholes than OAN.

I'd welcome OAN coming to my cable system. I'd actually turn to the channel that currently carries AJA if that happens, although I'd prefer Newsmax or RFD-TV, but they're unlikely to buy these assets.

Both viewers are reported to be very upset. :D
The hosts of "Car Talk" on NPR are all the time talking about "both our listeners".

Morgan Fogarty of WCCB Charlotte took a job with Al Jazeera. I think this is the one. And then she decided she couldn't leave Charlotte. WCCB's newscasts wouldn't be the same without her. I guess she did the right thing if this is how the network ended up.

I have 14 cable news channels carried on my cable system. This is ridiculous and the market simply can't support this many news channels.

CNN
HLN
CNBC
MSNBC
Bloomberg
CNN International
CNBC World
BBC News
The Blaze
Al Jazeera
Newsmax TV
One America
Fox News
Fox Business

Some of the services you have listed are not news....HLN, The Blaze, Newsmax, One America, Fox Business, CNBC, and CNBC International....

^Could you explain why you had "Fox Business", "CNBC", and "CNBC International" listed?

I have Channel 14 news.

That comment needs context to be meaningful.

What exactly is "Channel 14 news"? This being a discussion on the National TV board, all of the other references have been to nationwide news channels. I presume this is some kind of local or regional news channel, but since you do not provide your location in your profile (the reason for doing so should now be evident to you ...) I cannot be certain.

And I should have mentioned Time Warner. I thought maybe they had news on Channel 14 in all their markets, but maybe that's just North Carolina.

I thought it was interesting that someone had 14 channels, and I have Channel 14.
