I-Heart changes ALL four stations:

It is sad to see Eric Powers depart KUBE. He's been there for so long, and was such an integral part of the station. On the other hand, KUBE has suffered badly the last few years, and given that its an iHeart station, its hard to know if it was Powers' poor decisions or if he had his hands tied. I'm betting on the latter.

With Powers out, who is now the longest tenured on air personality in this market? Dave Ross at KIRO?

We so far have spent little time discussing the on air talent and imaging of these stations. I've noted on RD recently that iHeart is capable of programming great sounding, winning stations, in many major markets around the country.

They just, generally, have been unsuccessful at doing so in Seattle.

One person pointed out that they tend to roll out generic formats across markets, rather than program for the unique demos and competitive environment in the market. However, in their successful big markets, they take the time to program specifically to the market. Are we seeing them finally getting away from the cookie cutter approach in Seattle?

Full talent line-ups probably won't come out for a few weeks (Andrew Harms, who is doing drive time at iHeart's station in LA, is certainly going to voice tracking on 102.9) until they figure out what they are looking for. But it'll be interesting to see if they can get some voices in place that make a difference.

I see the change on 93.3 as a return to it's roots. Granted the music has changed, but it's a return to straight CHR, which is what they used to be. Too bad the KUBE calls have shifted, but the new audience of 93.3 wasn't around when KUBE was a CHR.

New call sign for 93.3 is KPWK. Looks like the KUBE call will move to 104.9 MHz.

The change in frequencies with KUBE opens the door for KHTP to evolve in a R-CHR direction if they so choose.

Wow! I've listened to Power quite a bit when I could and they sound great! Now this is what CHR in the NW is supposed to sound like! This is going to give Movin' one heck of a time. Anyone noticed Kiss doesn't sound much different? KUBE has been totally revamped with more hip-hop and I'm not sure how KYNW will fair against the competition. Wonder if this means the end of Click soon? The door is open for Rhythmic CHR, wonder if Entercom would try that and Hubbard takes 98.9 Rhythmic AC? Interesting times ahead. I heard Kat doing middays today, I would assume that's her new permanent spot, Deanna on 106.1. Where'd she come from by the way? She seemed to be filling in a lot this summer, then was gone by fall. Also, who's this Hunter in afternoons on Kiss?

What would they do different than what KUBE 93 did for decades?

93.3 morning show was interesting. It was just music, occasional pleas from the hosts to find them a place to live, and occasional spots of dead air. It honestly sounded like two people just sitting in their basement playing music to their friends.

I don't listen...haven't listened since 1992. My advice for any new staff at iHM; rent, don't buy (even if they could afford to buy in Seattle which they probably can't on typical iHM wages).

I fell out of my chair laughing when I saw those new call letters for 93.3....KPWK?

KISS becomes HOT-AC: “More Music, More Variety with Bender and Molly in the Morning.”
KUBE becomes: POWER 93. Mainstream CHR with 10,000 song in a row. (Attacks KQMV)
104.9 FM (sound end signal) becomes KUBE with Rhythmic CHR (parks the format in the South End)
102.9 FM becomes ACTIVE ROCK (Attacks KISW on South End)

In the last year the following stations have either changed format or blown out mornings shows and PD's:

• KBKS format change and fired airstaff and PD, except mornings
• KUBE: format change and fired airstaff
• NOW-FM: format change and fired airstaff
• KRWM: Rebranded, adjusted format and fired PD and Morning Show
• KNDD: Fired morning show, PD and went more gold Alternative.
• KLCK: Rebranded, adjusted format more modern, fired Morning Show
• HOT-FM: Rebranded to throwbacks, no currents, fired Morning Show
• KMPS-FM: Rebranded to 90's and Now Country, fired PD and Morning Show
• KJR_FM: Rebranded in summer and fired PD and morning show
• KCMS-FM Fired PD and Morning Show at beginning of Year
• KMCQ-FM: Station sold and rebranded Christian.

Hot 103.7, Hot Jamz 88.9/94.5, and C89.5 are the only stations from Seattle I check out. KUBE was THE station in the late 90's-early 2000's when I was in the area.
