They're dropping like flies around here. Noticed that Mickey's old digs are running quiet now. It's on the air, but nary a whisper. Been silent for over an hour since I caught it.
I'm a bit disappointed with the Villarreal brothers here. Not overly, but I do have a gripe. I was pleased to see Radio Aleluya inherit this facility from Disney last year. I'm sure there are those all over Houston that said "ah, hell, another Mexican station" when KMIC returned to the air, but I saw it as 1590 being owned & operated by a local broadcaster again, Houston proud and all, and thought that it would be treated as well as 980. That, IMO, has not been the case. I am noticing more frequent spells of off the air periods, usually in the late evenings but I've heard 1590 off in the afternoon too. Then there are times when KMIC sounds like you're listening through a tin can. It sounds like the recording of the audio is bad, like the minister has swallowed the microphone or something. Once a different program comes on, or they go to the studio feed, KMIC suddenly becomes full, rich, and clean again. If the recording is bad, how do you let that go out over the apparent "flagship" station of Radio Aleluya? I wish they'd clean this up soon. It's getting just a bit too frequent to me.
