Hosting a show on one station while interviewing on another

It's great Tom Darro can multi task and host his morning show on WJJL while interviewing on Buffalo's Early News on WBEN. The interview was great, as always for WBEN, but how does that work for WJJL? He must have coordinated to not play a song from the Carpenter's between 7:21 and 7:27. Because after each song by the Carpenter's, we hear the same joke that they were just here...actually...that was 40 years ago...

If I was listening to WJJL, I would know he was busy with something else.

There's this fun new technology called "recording". It's been around for a while. Its use has been extended to a practice called "voice-tracking". Your favorite radio company uses it A LOT.

I don't know a thing about Darro's show. Maybe it's a replay of a show recorded when the Carpenters actually were in town. That way WJJL wouldn't have to pay him for it again. They've been know to run very much on the cheap.

The show is not a replay. They didn't record the show in 1974 when the Carpenter's were here last. It's a current, live show. Current time and temperature. It's just a repeat of the same old joke, day after day.

The current technology allows you to insert the current time, date, and temperature into a show that was recorded at a different time.

Well his voice sounds the same as it did 40 years ago then! Since his work is done, I wonder why he needs an office at the convention center?

So, that's what you're really bitching about? That's what you get for abandoning your precious WBEN - however briefly. You don't like it, don't listen.

I like WJJL. You're just commenting on a show you don't listen to. I don't believe it to be pre-recorded, you do. Is it a coincidence that music was playing instead of his "pre-recorded" voice during the same 7 minutes he was on WBEN? I think it didn't play since it didn't exist.

For those that don't listen to the show, his job is to crack jokes and give us the time and temperature in between the music, along with reading the commercials in his own words. They just let a few songs play without us getting the chance to hear him.
