Now, I'm sure you looked at the title of this thread and thought the ol' Purpledevil has flipped his wig and got the San Antonio and Houston boards mixed up. Well, I'm not as crazy as you might think.

We have a new frog in the race, gentlemen, and this one has a set of hind legs on it like none other we've seen before. I introduce you to the latest "hopper" in route to Houston. So without further adieu, a warm welcome for the latest applicant wishing to grace our dial, K224EQ Kerrville...uh, Houston.

Hopefully, Chuck Tiller will pay us a visit and give us the low down on this one. It's brought to us by the good folks at Salem.

The filing window for certain AM stations to file for a translator is allowing moves of up to 250 miles. No hops, just one big jump.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall and know if Pro has their collective eyes on something to attach to a certain daytimer in Cypress. ;)

The translator is owned by EMF.

No, sir! Transfer of the permit to South Texas Broadcasters was filed January 29th. That is a subsidiary of Salem, and it has been filed to relay Business 1110 KTEK Alvin.

The Lunch Special is in trouble, Frog. KAGG from the north, KYKZ from the east, a fairly active KXXM from the west, and let's not leave out KIOX from the southwest, which does find itself in Houston from time to time.

That's a packed channel right there. Might just benefit Rice to re-acquire the small 91-3 translator and stick it up on top of Rice Stadium too. K224EQ is nulled, sure, but I think we both see that Rice Radio is in a losing proposition on 96-1.
