97.5 flips from ESPN in Spanish to Spanish language oldies

W248BB made the flip from sports to music today, with a new format called "Poder 97.5" which means "Power 97.5". Music 70's and 80's based, but with a few 90's songs. No talent on the air, just prerecorded liners and drops.

I'm interested! What kind of oldies? Is it Spanish language pop and rock songs, or the more traditional Mexican and tropical music?

It's old regional Mexican and grupera songs. From Lorenzo de Monteclaro to Banda Machos.

I don't think there is a Spanish language classic rock station anywhere outside Argentina.

I wonder why they dropped ESPN Deportes. Poor signal that couldn't reach the NW suburbs (especially Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and Streamwood), where much of the Mexican-American community lives?
