93.7 The Party Knoxville

Check our new internet radio station 93.7 The Party. We are a local oriented Top 40 station for Knoxville, TN. We play a bigger variety of hits than the typical Top 40 station. Visit us at sikesmedia.wix.com/937theparty or listen to us on the Tune-In radio app!

If I saw a billboard or Facebook page for it, I'd think it was an OTA station (even though I know that the only thing you might be able to shoehorn in is a translator). It's also deceptive to any possible advertiser. So, yes, I'd lose the faux frequency.

Interesting question. I suspect my old friend, the gr8 one, can better answer as to whether or not this is true. But my personal understanding is that users of streaming music prefer streams that avoid any semblance of mainstream radio. They're using streaming media because they dislike traditional radio. In other words, a frequency in your streams' name can be a negative.

I apreciate the feedback! This is my first time running a radio station. I have been thinking since I've seen these comments about removing the freq. but The Party sounds just to plain. Personally I would change the name entirely if I drop the freq. I just can't think of a name that's different. I like Kiss FM Knoxville but I feel like iheartmedia owns those rights. Please throw out any ideas that would help me. Keep in mind this is a Top 40 station with a Rhythmic lean. I have not put too much money into imaging yet so this would be the best time to make any changes. Like I said I'm just getting started.

What you most of all have to ask yourself is what you can offer that Star 102.1 and Hot 104.5-with likely much more of a budget and strong OTA signals-aren't. Is this a hobby for you or do you plan to support yourself with it? Either way, with the new royalty rates, it's pretty expensive, and more expensive the more listeners you get.

I hope to one day be successful and have more money coming into the station. Right now I am supported by my own income and the small amount of donations I get. What we offer different from 102.1, 104.5 and even 94.9 is less repeats which means a bigger playlist. Also older hits that don't get as much AirPlay anymore and plenty of remixes. Our format has the rhythmic elements of 104.5 and the lighter pop hits and alternative hits that 102.1/ 94.9 offer. I'm constantly adding to the playlist daily. BTW there are plenty of early 2k and 90's hits mixed in. What do you think of calling it "The Buzz" "The Buzz 94" " or "94 The Buzz" the reason for the number is because most likely it won't be used because "The Buzz" is really generic by itself. 94 is not a full freq. and I see a lot of other internet stations using single numbers.
