The radio is where you get your news, the dead trees are where you get your stories. We all found that out when a story of a WBEN host appeared on the front page of a daily rag a few years back.

The rag is obsessed with this radio station and published what appears to be another fictional story of a fill-in host. Yes, they were desperate. No, I will not post a link. You can read it if you are subscribed and the driver wasn't too hungover from last night and you got your rag this morning. Even if it were all true, it isn't news. I can't wait until that publication goes out of business.

I'd be willing to bet "that publication" will publish your obit - perhaps in electronic form, but in business nonetheless.

If you're referring to the Caputo story, they seem to have done a pretty good job sourcing their quotes. If anything, they killed a few rumors about him, including a particularly pernicious one regarding ties to the Taliban and Al-Qaida. Now, perhaps if you have direct personal knowledge of Mr. Caputo, you can inform us about where they went wrong. But, of course, you're "just a listener", right?

Cute

Oh, "that publication" will still print obits for years to come - if nothing else because of the ripoff rates they charge the bereaved...

They won't be printing anything by then, if they are even still in business. Maybe they'll "tweet" them out. The first 10 will be free and then you'll need to pay a service fee. Or they'll read them on WBFO.

They'll still have a better website than WBEN. And a better reporting staff.

Don't try to reason with that sad shill. He's not just a shill, he's a newbie and quite naive.

The Buffalo News website is a destination site for local news, hands down. WBEN's site is your typical radio station token attempt to seem like they've got the local news covered, when in reality they hardly do.

I've heard from several front row witnesses who say the paper is quite handy for a severely undermanned radio newsroom, which makes all this badmouthing of TBN all the more laughable.
