Michele McPhee sued for libel

http://www.universalhub.com/2016/chechen-immigrants-sue-michele-mcphee-news-outlets

A Chelsea family who claims reporter Michele McPhee ruined their lives by linking them to Dzokhar Tsarnaev and Islamic jihadists after the Boston Marathon bombings has sued McPhee, media outlets that picked up her account and a noted Islamaphobe in federal court. In the lawsuit, filed this week in US District Court in Boston, the Umarov family is seeking $5 million in compensation and another $100 million in punitive damages from the defendants, who also include ABC News, the New York Daily News, the UK's Daily Mail and Pamela Geller.
At issues is a report McPhee did for ABC News almost a year after the Marathon bombings, in which she cited unnamed federal sources as being concerned about the family's alleged links to Dzokhar Tsarnaev and to Islamic jihad.

ABC will write them a hefty check,in return for a non-disclosure agreement, and the Queen of the Badge Bunnies will go on as if nothing has happened.

Some of the comments on the linked site are pretty funny, worth reading..

I read the ABC material..... pretty weak reporting if you ask me... "yes or no have you stopped beating your wife" type of stuff.

Just goes to show you what kind of incompetent lawyer files a suit like this.

Well that is one of the issues, it was filed per se, and the party filing it also named other plaintiffs.

So although an Attorney may have drafted it, there is no Attorney of Record, and the aggrieved party filed on behalf of other parties, effectively practicing law without a license.

If this is the level of representation the plaintiffs are going to go forward with, McScreech should be able to get the case dismissed in less time
than it takes her to read a :30 spot
