A second fm station is trying for the 92.1 fm frequency

Hi Folks, are you all aware that a second FM station, and this one is a Low Power station is trying to go onto the 92.1 FM frequency. This station from Horsham, Pa. goes under the call letters of WEMQ FM from Horsham, Pa. If this station is allowed to go on, WVLT'S signal will be lost in all of Northeast Philadelphia. Why is 92.1 FM such a hot frequency that every station wants to go on it? See the information below about the all new WEMQ FM in Horsham, Pa. :

Never knew WVLT went that far north, why don't they lease one of the underproductive HD sub channels in Philly to rebroadcast their signal. Photo of the new move in.

WEMQ, and the 92.1 translator in Philly both look to be well outside WVLT's protected contour.

92.1 is a "hot" frequency because of relative lack of interference. WVLT's signal is weak where these stations want to broadcast. There's little interference from 92.5 WXTU, and really, other than 91.7 WKDU, no interference until you hit 90.9 WHYY on the dial.

For a translator or LPFM, it's a good frequency to try to grab.

IMHO, because nobody (besides radio freaks like us) listen to HD channels. Rented a car last week, top of the line car with all the bells and whistles, radio had AM/FM, Sirius, Bluetooth, AUX, Micro SD, but no HD, go figure.

I feel your pain, I just purchased a 2016 ford taurus from Pacifico Ford and it was like pulling teeth to order one with HD radio. Granted it came with everything you could imagine including the Sirius gimmic only 6 months. After a long tussle and I was going to go elsewhere they finally gave in but the sales people knew nothing about an HD radio. If you look at the ford ads they claim they are the tops with HD radio in all their vehicles. I do enjoy WMGK HD-2 they really do a good job of playing a broad variety of oldies with great processing.
