WBT Audio Quality - What happened?

WBT has become impossible for me to listen to. The audio sounds like it's been fed through a tin can. At first I thought it might be the rather shoddy AM section in my car radio but listening at home I'm hearing the same tin can audio distortion. If this shoddy audio doesn't chase listeners away nothing will.

They are most likely running Voltair PPM encoding. It causes that hollow effect on AM processing. WLW has that same hollow effect during talk programming.

I can't believe it's not a huge tune out factor. I don't consider myself an audiophile so if I notice it, that's really bad!

I listen to WBT on 99.3 and the HD is normally locked in. Sometimes 107.9-HD2. Seems ok there. It is hard for me to receive in the car due to interference issues, and the AM is a bit static at this distance.
