Let's talk about this new translator on 100.7. 250 watts of power from Sharps Ridge goes a long way. The signal is boomin in Blount County so goodbye to US 101 Chattanooga. However with the coverage it gets, I feel like it could serve a better format. I'm all for Christian music stations but we have a lot of those around here. Has this signal caused any issues with receiving WUSY in Vonore/ Madisonville area? Just curious.

New translator on 100.7 in Knoxville

My daily commute is between Maryville and Hardin Valley area. I don't think the 100.7 translator signal is that strong so I doubt it causes any issues in Vonore or Madisonville.
This reminds me, we used to get a really good signal of Sunny 92.3 Chattanooga before the Karns translator came on the frequency.

According to radio-locator they have a CP to move to 250 watts so it might not be as strong yet if they are still at 50 watts. The farthest I've gotten US101 without interference is the interstate 40/75 split in Loudon County
Before the 100.7 translator came on I could get WUSY-HD with great reception at my house in Maryville. Now I get nothing but the translator. Speaking of translators, has anybody heard any reasons why the 98.3 translator went off air? We're they just testing? Radio locator still doesn't show it.
I drove between South Knoxville and Sevierville this evening. I didn't remember to check out 100.7 until I got to Seymour. There, the translator and Q100.7 were about even, flipping back and forth. When I got back to town even in South Knoxville I had plenty of Q100.7. It's almost like the 101.5 situation with the 1340 translator struggling to even be heard over WQUT. I don't know what happened to 98.3 (WKCE-1120's translator) but have a feeling interference to WMTY in Blount County may have generated complaints and caused them to have to look elsewhere to locate. Not a peep out of 104.1 in Sevierville which is supposed to be paired with 930-which is still playing 3 songs with no IDs.

Thank God... Maybe they can actually get an audience using that channel. Not a fan of the oldies format they are playing but hey, it's different than 93.1 which I actually love btw.
I'd like to see WKCE do a tighter 60s format (along the lines of WDJO, Cincinnati or The Real Oldies Channel.). I think it would work out much better for them than playing all the unfamiliars that the geeks will love but everyone else will turn off. They're still not going to have a true citywide signal, though 97.1 is a pretty good translator frequency choice.
Does anyone know where the 98.3 translator was broadcast from and wattage? I'm assuming 97.1 will be the same.
That might happen eventually as the demo ages. Even WMTY (which was all '50s and '60s) is now playing mainly '70s.
