Prince died earlier today (April 21) at age 57 at his Paisley Park home and studio, according to TMZ.

TMZ reported earlier that police had been investigating a fatality there.

Prince was hospitalized last week after his plane for was forced to make an emergency landing in Moline, Ill. Released a few hours later, a rep told TMZ that he had been battling a bad case of the flu.

Oh my goodness, what a loss to the music world. This is probably the biggest one of the year. I loved his music. "1999," "Kiss," "Little Red Corvette," "Raspberry Beret," "Let's Go Crazy," "Pop Life." He will be dearly missed in the world of music and my condolences go out to his family, friends and millions of other fans. He can now party like it's 1999 up in the skies. RIP Prince!

Hartford does not have an R&B Oldies Station or Urban AC station, so hip-hop formatted (and CBS owned) HOT 93.7 went with all-Prince Music. Their sister station WTIC-FM 96.5 which is classified as HOT AC mixed in his music as did sister station LITE 100.5 WRCH. WRCH even did an all-Prince hour a 5PM. Red Wolf owned Classic Hits formatted KOOL 96.1(Southington/Meriden)/104.3(Westerly/Mystic) only mentioned it on their Facebook Page. Then again I don't think they play any of his music anyway.

In New Haven 94.3 WYBC-FM which is Urban AC went with all-Prince Music. 94.3 is a Commercial Station owned by Yale University, but is LMA'd to Connoisseur Media.

In Philly I-Heart's DAS-FM and Radio One's Old School 100.3 went with all-Prince music.

well, on the TV side, all of the TV cable news channels covered his death non-stop. meanwhile at MTV, MTV2, BET, BET Jams, BET Soul, and Centric they dump their regularly scheduled programming for the day to play Prince's music videos and concert performances. while at VH1, they aired Purple Rain and music videos and performances. also "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" paid tribute to Prince by changing the lights of the stage at the Ed Sullivan theater to Purple.

Fuse changed it's logo bug color to purple as a tribute to Prince, and OWN will re-air a episode of The Oprah Winfrey show from 1996 where she interviewed Prince on Saturday at 8 PM ET.

meanwhile ESPN had their bottomline ticker show the news of his passing at the bottom of the screen under "News" with mentions of his halftime show performance at Super Bowl 41 as did the NFL Network.

and even NBA on TNT payed tribute to Prince at the start of tonight's NBA playoff coverage with the stage being in purple and they talked about Prince too.

RIP Prince, you will never be forgotten and will live on though your music.

KISQ San Francisco Used to be an oldies station last week before the flip. Before KISQ Switched to Soft AC They used to play some prince songs every day. Over at K-Earth 101 in Los Angeles spent the 5PM Hour dedicated to prince songs and they included clips from CBS News, KNX 1070, KCBS2 and KCAL 9 just to get K-Earth 101's audience to understand that the announcement is not a cruel troll statement and the death is real and confirmed by the coroner in Minnesota.

Here is the KRTH Reference.

SNL had an entire episode devoted to His Purple Highness. Jimmy Fallon was on stage alone, with no audience or anything, talking about how much Prince meant to the show, and introducing several performances. And he went into great detail about the 40th anniversary afterparty and how eventually, Prince came up on stage. Someone filmed this, and it had never been seen on TV. Until last Saturday night. Then there were 30 minutes worth of Fred Armisen/Maya Rudolph skits where Armisen was Prince. Finally, they had the closing of a Steve Martin-hosted episode where Prince had been the musical guest. The credits didn't look right for this episode (there was no "Weekend update" but it was mentioned) but they did have a 2016 date. Prince walked away in the middle as cast members continued to hug. Then the camera was on Martin at the very end. I don't understand the weird look on his face, but it would have made sense if he had known that it would be shown after Prince died. It was almost like he knew what was going to happen and felt bad about it.

Also, "New Girl" is rerunning the Prince episode. He was really nice to them.

Hmmm...this is a guy who was pretty private about everything. I understand the thinking to share it with his fans. But I can't imagine the Prince who hated interviews, who was very secretive about his life, to just throw open the doors to his estate to become another Graceland.

Im Not Sure thats legal because of how Prince and the contract lawyers/advisors written policies for him. to all of a sudden become another NeverLand Ranch or GraceLand or Mrs. Doubtfire's house and open his house for tourists. Sure I know its fan curiosity and fans want to pay respect to deceased stars though but it comes down to specific policies the owners and their advisers had over property.

Can Prince’s Estate Sue the National Enquirer for Saying He Had AIDS?

A publication’s best defense against a lawsuit is if its story is true. Though the Enquirer story has earned lots of winces and dropped jaws, most mainstream media outlets have stayed far away from it for a variety of reasons: Questions about the story’s sourcing, the whiff of tabloid sleaze, and widespread speculation that Prince died of something else — perhaps an overdose.

The short answer is that Prince’s family can’t do anything about the report, legally — because Prince is dead.
