A New Signal Has Emerged

I'm receiving a strong signal at 94-9 FM. Airing Alex Jones right now @ 11:40am, in downtown Houston.

Who is this?

Should it be?

Not at 43 watts @ 46 meters high, from North Shepherd & Tidwell. It's not KRUT-LP. Maybe someone pretending to be them, but it's not el Templo. Way too strong, and not the programming offering Templo de Dios puts out around the State. I'll know positively once I'm home. I live right down Tidwell from A Plus Toyo. If it's KRUT-LP I hear on 94-9 in the 4-4, this thing is pumping out more way more than 43 watts on that little wrecker CB radio antenna on the side of the building.

Edit to add: Ah. Should've read the PMs first.

Unnecessary risk. Let it expire.

No sign of it at my office on the 15th floor in the 1100 block of Fannin.

I was in the parking lot of my hotel at the last check. You'll hear it, if it's left on long enough for you to head home, Steven. Still audible now that I'm here at the house in Acres Home, though not nearly as clear as when I was on Main. This programming is not coming from KRUT-LP's CP site.

I heard it with a very poor signal driving along Montrose/Studemont. Best signal was at Studemont and I-10, but still poor, pretty much unlistenable in the car unless you happened to stop in a sweet spot. Conspiracy programming.

No sign of the conspiracy station during my Thursday evening commute.

Obviously the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, and the Iluminati have all joined together to shut them down. ;)

Those invisible black helicopters with direction finding equipment aboard tracked them down is what Alex said. Then something about sending the broadcaster to a FEMA camp to broadcast to the masses that are arriving there as I type this. Oh my! There's an invisible black helicopter outside. Now where's that darn aluminum hat!

There coming to take You away Ha Ha to the funny farm. and the secretary will disavow any knowledge of You.

Fairly decent open carrier on 87.9 during my morning and evening commutes, but dead air until around 7:10pm, when music appeared, separated by a JoeFM jingle. Presumably a simulcast of KZHO 38.9. Am able to hear it at my Cy-Fair location.

Heard JoeFM on 87.9 the entire way on my evening commute from near downtown to Cy-Fair. Pretty good signal, only getting weaker as I neared the Beltway. Music from the 70's and early 80's, most of which I haven't heard on the radio in a long, time time. Occasional JoeFM liners and jingles.

This morning I was hearing a mix of Alex Jones soundbites and music, rather repetitive. Don't know if it was the same transmitter.

It wasn't the same. I tracked it down earlier today to an office building downtown. It's partially surrounded by other buildings, explaining all the multipath.

I'm getting the 70s/80s on 87.9 in my downtown office on 87.9. Just heard a JoeFM liner.

Do they keep a ratings book on pirates in Houston?

Pirates are by definition illegal, so Nielsen does not provide PPM encoders to them. So they can not possibly show int he ratings.

In diary markets, Nielsen does not tabulate unlicensed stations as they use the FCC database for facilities information.

Patience ol' purple one. You missed the on air tests. Should be back next week. And it's no longer in Dayton. Antenna sits on Chase Tower right next to KZHO only this will cover twice the territory with a non directional city grade reaching almost to Galveston and northward almost to Huntsville.

Make sure you let us know when it is testing so we can report on signal quality.
