Era of ATSC 3.0 Broadcasting Begins

WRAL was also the first to broadcast in "digital".

I don't like this. I went to a lot of trouble to make everything work. It still doesn't work. I haven't tried an outside antenna but with my trees I'm not optimistic. And there are other considerations.

As long as I can keep my cable everything should be okay, and the antenna is just an alternate way to watch.

But if my ABC affiliate has weather bulletins or pre=empts programming ... actually, we have repacking to worry about too. But I have a very dependable ABC affiliate (no news operation) which seems to have a good signal as well.

An outdoor antenna positioned above your tree line will solve all your reception issues. ATSC 3.0 is supposed to be better than the current system reception wise. I guess we will have to wait and see if that's true or not.

That ought to be interesting. These trees are quite tall.

I'm not spending the money.

If they're allowed and/or physically possible, and if they are, you can afford that tall a tower.

So that means you're not going to complain about lousy reception anymore, right?
Why should I spend money I don't have? Or, more accurately, spend more than I am making.

Although I did that so I could record shows. A lifetime subscription to TiVo is cheaper than the monthly cost. And I have two of those since the first one didn't work right when digital cable came along. Then it DID work right, but by that time I could record four shows at once.

Anyway, that's enough money to spend. Add to that the cable bill each month ... okay, a tall tower will be cheaper in the long run, but it's got to be more complicated than that.

If they had left analog TV alone, I wouldn't have a problem. Actually, if I had gotten the superior antenna I have now, I know that the analog signals would have been much better

Will ATSC 3.0 have DTV Boxes for HDTV's that only have the old standerd ATSC

Like we got for Converter boxes for our old Analog TV's

If they do a ATSC 3.0 Converter Boxes they will do it for HDTV's with HDMI, That's my guess

But, There's always HDMI to Composite Adapters
