Latest Radio Ratings

So what happens to this unique success story once the loophole allowing the Franken FMs is closed for good with the requirement that LPTVs go digital?

Also, at the end of the article, this appears: "NOTE: As of the start of 2016, WRME-LP is not appearing on the publicly shown list of ratings. That is most likely a temporary situation." So, in other words, Chicago Radio and Media published insider info that wasn't supposed to be made available to the public. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

The country music standoff is interesting, but not surprising. When one player has had an entire slice of the pie to itself for decades, it's not unusual....at least IME...to see it become lazy, and vulnerable to more "hungry" competition.

What I found more interesting in the latest rating book was the extent to which Cubs baseball has catapulted WSCR since the season has started. Yet the White Sox (also an improved team) have had virtually no effect whatsoever on WLS-AM. The other effect of the Cubs being on WSCR appears to be the hit taken by WMVP's numbers.

As for WWME's numbers being made public, Feder also published them. Mistake or something else going on? Whatever, they seem to have settled into a comfort zone that's hopefully secure enough for them to make a living while still catering to a demo that most advertisers don't want.

I do not see that being 22nd in 12+ and 29th in 25-54 is any great accomplishment. The main selling point for the station is not the music, but the lack of commercials.

People are listening in measurable numbers to a station on a frequency most people only see on their displays after their car batteries have been disconnected and reconnected, Considering that the Hartford area has a couple of 250-watt translators on 97.1 and 96.1 -- one Tropical, the other Classic Hits -- that have yet to show up in ratings at all, I'd call what that Franken-FM has done a pretty fair accomplishment. Try looking beyond the dollars and cents. Yes, I know that the bottom line is almighty, but can't you at least acknowledge that even showing up in a book is a feat for a station at 87.7?
