KRXP Colorado Springs

Just popping in here because I recently stumbled upon KRXP and have to say it's fantastic. One of the best alt stations I've heard in terms of balancing new "hits" and breaking artists, some obscure stuff and classic alt.

Thought it was odd though that I don't see it at all on Radio-Online's ratings. Been on the air since 2008? Is it doing well in the market?

Recently got pissed at my local station (X98.5 in Greenville, SC) starting to really slack off on new adds and staying current so started streaming here and there and think I've found my match with RXP.

Edit: Woah....and see this forum hasn't been posted in since last year...so might be hearing crickets in response.

KRXP is currently co-owned with long time FM rock outlet KILO. I can't find out much about its ownership, other than it's under Colorado Springs Radio Broadcasters, Inc. Some of the database functions at the FCC website are down at this early hour. I thought these two stations were sold recently, but I'm not sure. They are outside the ownership of the major chains, and tend to be more locally oriented than other stations in the market. They have live announcers even on late Saturday afternoons. I'm well out of the demo at 55 and it's one of my go-to stations here. My 18 y/o daughter listens to it even through considerable fading in terrain challenged Cañon City. (I don't listen to it unless I'm in Springs or Pueblo; I'm not as patient as I used to be with scratchy signals)

Looking at the latest Nielson ratings, KILO is also not included in the ratings. Both KILO and KRXP are owned by the same company (Bahakel Communications I think). Some of the smaller owners choose not to "subscribe" to these ratings...thus they are omitted from showing up in the ratings. I suspect that this is the case.

On a related sidenote Bahakel also owns KOAA 5 as well

Cheers & 73 :)
