New station on 87.7 in San Antonio

Unknowable

I'm hearing a strong signal with Spanish music on 87.70 FM in San Antonio. Is that the LPTV?
I thought it was supposed to be on 87.75, not 87.70. Or am I missing something?

I caught it on the way back from the coast, wondered if someone posted about that or not.

Hey Frank, I did see that post. But in checking 87-7 again today I've discovered that it's not on the required channel for analog LPTV, 87.75. It's 87.7, right on the dot.
Format wise, it's just regional Mexican music and Spanish top 40. I don't think anyone else in town plays that much Spanish Pop...

They must've saw my post. It's on 87.75 now. I can't verify TV reception though because I have no analog TV.

I did a test earlier. The station has a much stronger signal than before the last time it went silent. It's stereo at my location now!

Could it be the same one here in Houston? Well they're claiming to be La LEY 87.7 fm from Beaumont Tx. Facebook page and all!!

No it's different. This one is 87.7 KFLZ from here in San Antonio. It is also simulcasting it's "La Picuda" Spanish format on the 87-7 LPTV in Arlington TX. I heard their legal ID and they listed KBFW as well.

Speaking of 87-7 KIPS-LD in Beaumont, I thought it was La Mega... Why did they change their name?

Maybe cause they didn't want to get sued by CBS by having a similar name to KLOL MEGA 101.

Well Claro Communication's simulcasted 87-7 stations in SA and Dallas have changed their name as well. It's now "La Pantera" with panther sounds mixed into the ID messages. Both stations are still listed in the legal ID.

How strong is the signal?

Can 87.7 be heard as far north as San Marcos?

Can it be heard as far south as Jourdanton?

Can it be heard as far east as Seguin?

Can it be heard as far west as Castroville?

Being south of Austin I have my antenna pointed towards San antonio I can get most San antonio stations in HD but nothing on 87.7 I just checked today.

KTSW like a local same as KNBT. 104.1 most of the time sometimes KRBE.
