WIP 94.1 broadcasting on mono

WIP 94.1 in Philly has been doing something weird. During their music bits or commercials they broadcast in stereo but during their usual sports talk they broadcast in mono. I never knew a transmitter could do that. And plus why are they doing it? Save money?

Don't know if they are using one, but some of the Omnia processors have an auto mono function that detects mono and stereo content and toggles the stereo pilot off and on.
