CBS5 News at 10 Insanity

At the end of the CBS5 10pm Sunday night newscast, the producer had a little fun by running 70's music during the sports highlights. Then, when the sportscast ended, Joe Pequeno belted out a terribly offkey "Live and Let Diiiiiiieeeee". The newscast ended with the anchors saying good night, while Ashley and Joe were dancing to more 70's music. That was wacky enough, but...wait for it...

The very next commercial started out, "NO DANCING ANCHORS...NO MINDLESS CHIT CHAT...WATCH THE NEW WAKE UP ARIZONA"! :)

Un-freaking-believable!!! It was just one of those Twilight Zone moments.

They market their morning news as no-nonsense, not the 10 PM news. :D
 
Oh come on, Joe was just trying to have fun with Guns N Roses taking over Univ of Phx stadium tonight...he added a few GNR lyrics to his report last night.
Stuff like this is what Sports Reporters have been doing for years...lighten up! ;-)

Just to be clear, I wasn't criticizing Joe. I actually like this type of humor once in a while, although Preston and Lindsey seemed to be a bit embarrassed. And I'm certainly a fan of 70's music!

But the irony was that it was immediately followed (literally the next thing that was heard) by "NO DANCING ANCHORS...WATCH WAKE UP ARIZONA AT 4:30AM"!

12 still does news? The last newscast I watched on 12 two weeks ago literally had 8 people anchoring. It was EVB LIVE (or 12 News at 4) or whatever they call it now with practically every single anchor at the station.
