KOIT is feeling The Breeze

No question about it, KOIT's playlist has quietly shifted back to more of an adult style playlist rather than some of the juvenile bubblegum titles I hear them playing. Finally two more FM's in market #4 competing for where the money really is! May the trend continue!

I just went to their website and I have to say that I just don't feel it. I saw several songs that I hadn't heard in a few years but they weren't anything I would call "soft", by any means.

For many decades the money has been in 25-54, 18-49 and 18-34. Today, it is increasingly in 18-49, just as it has long been for TV.

If anything, KOIT is simply protecting its flank, as it needs to win in both 35-44 and 45-54 to keep its rank.

Not sure if day parting played any role in my listening visit being this morning (Saturday). There appeared more than the normal number of softer in-a-row songs that I hadn't heard in a while. Perhaps greater TSL may have shown me the reality of things. I have wondered if an upper income demo would work it's way into radio vs. other media due to current listening habits. Thanks for the info David! Good to see some radio programming for us big kids that still appreciate good old fashion terrestrial radio. Thanks Semoochie for the reply!

Funny, I was just last week discussing with someone the fact that I had gone to my dentist -- he always has KOIT on -- and in one 15-minute period I heard "My Humps" AND "Uptown Funk".

Which station will show the biggest increase? 98.1 The Breeze, 104.5 KFOG or iHeart 80's at 103.7??

KFOG, based on the last books and the first half of the August book is recovering a bit from the lows of the spring months, but below the early 2016 levels.

KISQ looks like it will be a bit below its May-June-July peak levels, but will definitely be well above the November to April levels preceding.

KOSF took a big jump in July and it looks like it is going to hold.

All this is on 25-54. The apparent winner of the three is KOSF, but it may still be a tie with KISQ. KFOG leans much older, with 35-64 being much better than 25-54.

What's this we talk about a satation just changng to compete with other station in the market, We gotta have someone putting us in our place

Can we just like Normal People

Yes, you can be normal people but keep in mind this is a radio board and I think most of us working in radio would not say we're normal.

Amen to that!

That Breeze just blew up KOIT's skirt! Breeze is #1 music station 6+ beating both KIOI and KOIT. In 25-54 KOIT drops out of the top 5.

6+, SMH.

To echo what others have said, a good 6+ number ultimately does nothing for ad revenues. I'm more curious what The Breeze looks like in the 25-54 numbers.

To quote David from the Los Angeles board...

But in 25-54, KOIT is 6th while KISQ is 15th. Still, it is a fall from first in the market from January to March for KOIT, with a gradual fall in rank over the last 5 months.

KOSF has moved to 14th from 19th in January, with a steady if somewhat wobbly upward trending all year.

So in the Ratings right now in August who's on 1st?

KISQ or KOIT?

In 25-54, it is KOIT and that is all that matters.

The "August" book is actually July 14 to August 10.
