Kettleman City 89.9 returns to the air

KWDS 89.9 B is now back on the air as KZKC with 70's and 80's rock. Strong signal and some good music. Wipes out any of the music on the two LPFM's in Hanford on 92.5 or 104.5.

Strong signal? Looked it up and was like, dang 50kW's! 50kW's VERTICAL.

It's too bad they can't move that transmitter east.

** EDIT: Read the wrong license. They're current CP is for 10kW vertical and horizontal. **

I thought the same thing however if you look at the most recent CP (BPED-20120213AAS), you'll see 10kW @ 246 feet HAAT. Albeit, it's expired however the FCC database shows the station as silent so I don't know. :) I'm curious they're operating under their license (BLED-20061017AAC) or the above mentioned CP. Anyone know?

The CP has gone and the station is putting out the 50 KW Vertical only DA. Signal is only fair but strong in some areas like Tulare County and south Fresno County. I am sure that the station will soon file to re-locate and get away from paying Crown Castle the $ 2,000 a month rent. That is why the 91.9 B1 at Tulare has been silent. There is no way they or any other Non-profit can afford the 2 G's a month rent

But the station is playing some good music from the late 1960's to 1980's. And no commercials or jocks. Beats the hell out of 92.5 and 104.5 in Hanford. Even with a bit of poor audio or signal on 89.9.

RDS Still showing "K-Wave" for the old calls of KWDS. New calls are KZKC. Signal and audio much improved. Good sound and great music. Able to hear the station down to Gorman and up to Fresno.
