The Meaningless 6+ numbers

KEZ cruises...
KSLX is solid...
KMXP & KYOT hold their own
KALV is very much alive...
KNIX & KMLE are tight...
KTAR is steady
KOAI is flat
KDKB has modest growth
And what in the wide world of sports is wrong with KFYI? They're approaching Goldminer territory...

They're still the top rated Ancient Modulation station at 1.8. But lookout for the Goldminers...just 0.8 separating them from 5~Fifty. YIKES!!

Their audience is now moving to the other side of the grass. That allows one to vote in Chicago, but doesn't help radio ratings any. :D

You're seeing this in more and more big cities outside the rust belt. If the same content is available on FM, that's where the listeners go.

The fact that KJZZ hasn't capitalized is the only surprise.

KJZZ is NPR, which leans liberal. KFYI is about as hard-right as a non-Salem station gets. It really has no FM competition for that audience. I wouldn't call KTAR-FM a hard-right station.

You think people are choosing their radio stations by their political views? If so, that's obviously not good news for someone.

My point was that news (regardless of bias) is available on FM.

KFYI's cume aint that big. When the TSL falls off, they be in trouble. But what else can you do on Ancient Modulation to attract a large measurable audience under the age of 55? (sfx - crickets chirping)

If by "news" you mean KJZZ and NPR, which only skews as left as "60 Minutes," then yes. If by "news" you mean the parenting tips -- stories literally identified as parenting tips -- that characterize "KTAR News" of late, surely you jest.

News is news. "Skew" is your opinion. If you like what they do, then they don't skew. If you don't, then they do. But THEY don't do it as a practice. As for KTAR, they do lots of news. The fact is both stations are getting better numbers than KFYI.
