The Goldminers do it again, in spite of Edd Byrne's absence from their playlist. Just one thing the Nurse and I'd like to know: does anyone read newspapers any more?

You'd call the New Times a newspaper?

You're right. Then how about "tree killer"...like the McRepublic. The only people who care about "Best of"...or political endorsements..are those who win them. Zero relevancy for the rest of us.

Akin to those People's Choice Best Restaurants...means nothing to anyone other than the restaurant that managed to get some of their friends vote. Saw a radio survey conducted by a freebie paper for one major city. The #1 station (aka most popular) was the one at the bottom of the pile in the Nielsen's ratings.

People like lists. Casey Kasem found that out. Whether those lists mean anything is another story. But it makes for great click bait.

I'm old enough to remember when a New Times Best of Phoenix award was a sure sign that a station would soon change format... because if the New Times liked it, it probably wasn't commercially viable.

Now that they have subcategories in the Best Radio category, some mainstream stuff sneaks through.

Of course, I remember when the New Times had hundreds of pages every week and the Best Of issue was triple a normal issue. Which means I'm just plain old.

New Times used to have some of the best and most thorough investigative reporting of all the local birdcage flooring BUT you never quite knew if all they said was true or not as most involved local politicians and they are always subject.

Ink quality was also an issue as reading and holding more than five pages of the paper resulted in a coating of black ink on everything it touched.

And the back pages ads were also suspect. Strip joints and girly shows galore. Oh, and don't forget the head shops.

With KNIX Being the exception (and possibly KJZZ)...... To win this award, you must have low ratings apparently!

KJZZ is quite healthy...thanks in large part to no beans & rice, rice & beans repeats!

"Support for KJZZ comes from Beano. Beano before, there'll be no gas. Support also comes from..."

Come on, make it happen...
