Is it unethical (or illegal) for translator applicants (or licensees) to "pay off" the holders of LPFM construction permits (or licenses) in order to motivate (bribe) them to submit their CP (or license) to the Commission for cancellation?

Its done all the time though.....a lot of full service stations pay others to downgrade, move, etc.....If the LPFM takes the $$, how can they complain and call it unethical??

Not unethical at all. The only thing that would be is if a board member were to financially benefit, however, if a board member personally owned what they permitted the non-profit to utilize, then no, if handled properly. Many LPFMs are owned by non-profits that do more than run a LPFM. Such a payoff could be a nice boost to a cash-strapped non-profit.

The definition of a bribe has to do with who money is being given. If it's given to a person of trust, such as a judge or elected official, it's a bribe. If money is given to a business man, it's seen as a business transaction.

Something tells me that all three of the CPs for 92.5 will quietly disappear in exchange for some pesos changing hands.

Like a lot of over-sensitive people, you're seeing racism where it does not exist, not even hinted. Using the word pesos is simply a reference to the value of something and has nothing to do with race. Once in a while, most bloggers employ a harmless slang term or two. If the currencies of francs, marks, lira, rubles, or euros were used in this blog, I wonder how many French, Germans, Italians, Russians, and Europeans would be offended - how about None. If I said the phrase "in exchange for some cruzedos changing hands," then you would apparently believe that Brazilians should cry racism. How about shekels, now I must be anti-Israeli for merely mentioning their currency. How about clams & scallops, uh-oh, now we're going to hear from the offended Flintstonian Community. In the future, Latinoradio, if you use the term dollars, should I be offended?

Accepting the probability that you are another of the Houston board's sock puppets*, when you use a foreign currency to describe a bribe allegedly made by an Hispanic, it does sound a bit racist and quite demeaning.

* This is the only board I have participated in... and I go back to CIS and The Well... where the sock puppets have sock puppets. It's like walking onto the set of The Muppets.

David. I think it is more like the set of the Simpsons with out BART and his Indian Buddy. Not as interesting with out BART, like watching Chevys rust. But it is Politically correct ?

Perhaps it's because I live in an East Coast state that is permeated with mafia culture, but I've come
to pretty much expect to find corruption taking place in government at every level.

Watching 60's and 70's era Chevys rust was an action sport!

:cool:David You are right I remember seeing 60's and 70's Chevy trucks and suburban's with the large chucks of the sides rusted out, under the suburban's rear glass and tailgate / rear door's and the wheel wells on the trucks, I bought a 1988 S10 and was so afraid of Chevy rusting history I spent some bucks on Z Bart undercoating they pumped that black crap every where even drilled holes in the windshield posts and pumped stuff in there too, but I guess it worked I still have the truck and no major rust.
