KHEP or BK, Which Happens First?

Yet another exciting Media Hut contest while we enjoy the coming 110+ heat! Guess which happens first: KHEP 15~Eighty returning to the air, or the bankruptcy filing of I ♥ Debt? With 23 billion bucks on the line...and more lawyers than an accident scene, Los Buckeye Boyz are going for easy pickins. But who knows, maybe Bob Pittman can pull another rabbit out of the debtors hat and make the money men happy. Then again, how long does it take to crate up a Nautel in Tempe and move it to West Phoenix? KHEP could very well win this one. So what's your guess? 1st place winner gets a hour hour ride in the un-airconditioned Gremlin. 2nd place winner, gets a 2 hour ride.

I ♥ Debt hasn't filed for bankruptcy yet and KHEP is back on the air @ 1580 am.

The signal is comes in gangbusters out in Gilbert. Either they're still at the Country Club Stick Shack, running 50,000 watts at night from their new diplexed site, or have the most robust 90-watt signal on the AM dial.

They're like a local in NE Mesa, about 10 miles from Country Club and the 202. Maybe they're making sure that the transmitter still works before moving it to Phoenix?

If you'd only had made that prediction prior to 10/14, you'd be our big Media Hut winner. But a runner up prize is definitely in order as Nurse Jeff and I know everyone was holding their breath until 15~Eighty signed back on. hmmmmm...how does a couple of hundred slightly used (but warm) Galaxy Note 7 cellphones sound?

Maybe they've borrowed a page from the illegal power aliens at 15~Ten? KHEP is actually authorized for 95 watts of brokered time pow-pow-power at night. 'splains everything!

Why thank you sir, it would be my honor.

Drove by the transmitter sight on Country Club and the signal although strong doesn't seem to be coming from there. I thought there was a problem with the antenna array there -- licensed for 6 towers and I swear only 5 are standing.

They're diplexed with 12~Eighty near 38th Av, so of Indian School. The old location has 5 sticks. The 6th came down due to rust...and I swear, driving the Gremlin past that site had nothing to do with it!

I live 20 miles south of Tucson and have been hearing religious programming on 1580 the past couple nights. I assume I'm hearing KHEP.

That'd be a stretch for 95 watts at night! However, anything is possible as the FCC doesn't care about Ancient Modulation any more, and they may be running 50kw after sunset. Plus there are a number of stations on that glove box frequency that run religion in either Spanish or English, so who really knows? Unfortunately here at the Media Hut, KASA 15~Forty limits our ability to listen to your 50kw waste on 15~Fifty.

Only 5 are standing, but who knows when they'll come a-tumblin' down. The pillar for the 6th is still there and briefly visible as one drives eastbound on the 202.
