No midday 'cast on Mc12. At least not this week. Some talk show hosted by a minister from 12-1 (Arizona Midday still there 1-2). Is this a trial run for the talkfest? Why didn't they title it "TEGNAtalking"?

Actually, that's not a trial. That's permanent. For this season, T.D. Jakes is on at 12:00 Noon on KPNX, effectively discontinuing its 12:00 Noon midday newscast. It's been like this for weeks now.
But the big news is the effort 12 is putting into its evening newscasts. Often there appear to be 4 news anchors standing around various places. It's just plain over the top at times.
But 12 isn't the only one. I will never understand why stations put a news reader standing stupid in front of the 4th Avenue Jail to read a story about someone who got into a fight at a bar earlier that morning.
For the same reason they send reporters out onto the freeways to clog up traffic during a monsoon storm: Because they can. It's imperative that they be live, local, and first to tell us that it's raining where they are, or that a drunken bum is being held in The Dear Sheriff's jail.
I know CBS 5 and Fox 10 still has the Noon newscast. I think Ron Hood still host the 12 o'clock newscast on KSAZ Channel 10.
Yep. KNXV also has theirs at 11:00am while KTVK hasn't had one in years.
