New FM sports station in Columbus

They going to make 105.3/1230 local? Would be long overdue if so. Can't imagine iHeart would make another one of its FM stations sports and go against the new FM signal they put on the air earlier this year.

Unless they move the current 1230/105.3 format (with local content) to another of their FM properties (say 105.7) and move 105.7's format to the 1230/105.3 signal.

105.7/WXZX is carrying the Cavs games this season starting tonight according to the Cavs website. Since they also have the Bengals...they're starting to turn into a sports station with music!

Maybe that is the plan. I was very disappointed to hear the Cavs on 105.7 and was wondering why it wasn't put on 1230/105.3. I can tolerate sports with only 1 game per week like football, nascar or even soccer on a music station, but basketball, hockey and baseball have too many games and kill too much of the music programming.

Update on the new Columbus FM sports station: http://sportsradiopd.com/2016/11/under-the-radar-november-15-2016/

Details should be available soon about a new sports station launching in Columbus. The brand is expected to be affiliated with FOX Sports Radio, heard on the FM dial, and operated by iHeart. Former ESPN Cleveland WKNR on-air host Bruce Hooley is rumored to be one of the new station’s weekday personalities. It’s also possible that the local programming which originates out of Columbus could be made available on other in-state sports stations presently run by iHeart. Stay tuned for further details.

Looks like the new sports station will debut at 3pm today. Bruce Hooley will have a show from 3 to 7 pm and the station will be called 105.7 The Zone

Well partially right. Yes its "The Zone" at 3p. Bruce Hooley will be on 3p-6p, but only for today to launch the station. He'll be doing mornings starting tomorrow 6a-9a.

Not surprised. Now I question what they will do with 1230/105.3 with Fox Sports filling in on 105.7 now between the local shows.

Monday 1230/105.3 is changing to music. No syndicated shows, but will continue carrying OU basketball through the end of the season and select Cincinnati Reds baseball games this coming season.
