Mom Giving KEZ A Run

In the all unimportant 6+ for October, KEZ bests KSLX by a 0.1 share. Mother Hubbard is doing quite well with her Phoenix cluster, including Oldies 92~Seven, 93~Three HD~Two and 14~Forty with another 1 share! Here are the numbers, but neither Nurse Jeff or I will tell SeeBS that 101~Five has been acquired by Riviera (YIKES!).

What surprises me: how well KUPD does. I've mentally written off "Active Rock" as a format because in so many cities, Alternative has filled that role. I forget that the format exists. But I kind of grew out of KUPD and stations like that in my 20s so I don't think about it. But KUPD is why KDKB is so heavy on indie and 90's.

Looking at the playlist at KSLX, there's not a dud to be found. It's all solid 70's and 80's rock. That's how you win at Classic Rock these days.

That's a well programmed cluster. They know what they're doing.

I'm still surprised how well Holmberg and company's shock-jock shtick is holding up ratings wise after all these years. Maybe because management still lets them get away with trashing the stations right down the hall from them. They might be key to the station's success after all these years.
