Cox/Atlanta's VP Programming Now Nights on Kiss

Kiss 104 has gone through several evening hosts since becoming a Cox station, Jeffrey Charles, Stacy Dee, Charles Mitchell. Now the station is voice-tracking Cox/Atlanta VP Programming Tony Kidd and his wife Jennifer in the slot.

They are certainly qualified. Tony has been a jock before, even doing Country in the Birmingham market. He worked his way up through programming at Cox/Miami and at one time, before an overall realignment, was GM at Kiss. Jennifer has been doing a Sunday show, Today's Black Woman, on Kiss using their real last name (Kiett).

I suppose it's unusual for a high-level executive to do a show, but Romeo (Tim Herbster), who hosts the iHeart Weekly Countdown, is Senior VP Programming at iHeart's Seattle cluster. I remember when he was just a jock at Z100 in New York.

Tony is an excellent jock. I wonder though - does he still open his show with "HELLLL_LO DERE!" ?
Interesting bit of trivia - he's a zillionth degree back belt in one of the disciplines - Taekwando I believe. We were at a mutual friend's retirement party a year or so ago and I asked him if he'd kept up with it. "I can still hit him hard enough to knock him down and then run like hell" was the reply.

The answer is no, he does not open his show that way. Haha.

I got to know Tony when he was GM, and I like him very much. He's a real radio guy.
