New PPM's are out and what should be an explosive time for talk radio with the weeks leading up to the election, both WABC and WOR performed poorly in the just released overall ratings. WABC has been stuck at a 1.4 for almost a year and WOR dropped to a 1.7 from a 2.2,probably because the Mets season is over. Stations like KFI,WPHT and WGN did very well. Why the dismal ratings? Possibly the weekends are barely even showing with all those infomercials that attract virtually no audience? If WABC and WOR got a 0.3 or so on the weekend,that would bring down the whole week,

Yes, I know it's the beauty numbers,but how well could have these stations done in 25-54?

This has been the most talked about,explosive election in history. Any pundits care to weigh in on why WABC and WOR didn't do better?

TV and the internet provided more compelling content?
 
Other than WPHT, most of the stations you listed were doing well before the election, and will be doing well after it is a memory. WABC and WOR were not.

How many people are going to wake up one day in October and go "I wonder what Mark Simone has to say about Hillary Clinton"?

Not in NYC. Clinton was a 10 to 1 winner in Manhattan and the Bronx, and a 3 to 1 winner in Brooklyn & Queens. She also won NY state and NJ.

Given the dismal numbers for WABC, you're probably better off having a different opinion from the rest of the station.

If your Wondering who was the top talk station during the elections it was WNYC the NPR News/Talk station in New York.

I said the Republican Primary. I'm not just talking about Manhattan. I am talking about the tri-state area that WABC is heard in.

Can you specify counties in the Tri-State area that was for Trump? As far as we know Clinton got all the electoral votes in all 3 States in the Tri-State area.

And in Connecticut, he won Litchfield and Windham (northwest and northeast corners of the state) and came within 10,000 votes in Middlesex and New London. Lots of Trump voters in places you wouldn't expect them all over the country, and this part of the Tri-State was no exception.

Radio ratings aren't broken down that small. Building a radio station around a guy who won in certain counties is no indication that it'll improve the ratings of that station.

This particular election isn't really an indication of who people voted for, because there was no true conservative running. My point being is you're a conservative radio host who bashed the eventual winner, especially back during the primaries, you probably have a lot of potential listeners who agree. And once he takes office, that number is likely to grow. A lot of people voted for Christie at one time. Not any more.
