CBS Philly Stations Get Creative with NTR

WIP.jpg

My fiance pointed out something interesting when he was listening to WXTU recently. Their RDS display would occasionally display an ad for NTB (National Tire & Battery)... usually for a discount oil change. It would flip between that and the song info playing.

I caught a picture of it on WIP during one of the recent Eagles games... and have seen WOGL and AMP doing it as well.

Caught my attention the first time I saw it. Gotta give them credit for squeezing out every dollar they can.

The CBS stations in Atlanta have been selling RDS scrolls for years!

I'm looking forward to seeing the following ad on TV:
Drive your car into a tree while reading your car radio? Into a school bus? Across the median? Call me, Ima Scheister at 1-800-ISUECBS.

Please. Pay no attention to RDS scrolls. Watch your driving.
Or maybe CBS hopes these scrolls cause accidents. Accidents cause traffic jams and maybe people will tune to KYW for the traffic reports.
